I can’t confirm this, but I was once told that counter-insurgency forces in South America were trained that female insurgent leaders were the most dangerous. Men would tend to cut and run as soon as things started to look bad while women would continue to fight - and if any of their followers were injured or killed, female leaders would become even more dangerous as they sought to retaliate.
