Schumer And Jeffries Demand Murdoch Stop Fox Hosts From Spreading False Election Narratives

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) sent a letter to Fox Corporation Chairman Rupert Murdoch and Fox News executives on Wednesday calling on them to own up to recent evidence that the network knowingly spread conspiracy theories about the 2020 election and to admit “they were wrong to engage in such negligent behavior.”

@perrin42 @mondfledermaus

Obviously you’re on the side of doing nothing, just sitting on the sideline letting Fox, Murdock, Fucker, et al run wild over the viewing public and the rest of us.

It’s called appeasement and it never works.

“We demand that you direct Tucker Carlson and other hosts on your network…"

Yeah. And make 'em all stick out their tongues and bulge out their eyes like Alex Jones.

He’s funny

Wow another “sternly worded letter” that’s as powerful as a single strand of cooked vermicelli…

I interpret @perrin42’s and @mondfledermaus’s comments as cynically (but likely accurately) observing that Fox News Corp is unlikely to take the steps demanded in the letter. I’m at a loss for how that gets interpreted as appeasement or an argument for doing nothing.

How about DOJ suing to rescind the license for Fox “News” to appear on cable? Surely their support for sedition, insurrection, and continued peddling of the Big Lie™️ despite knowing it’s all false could support shutting them down?

Maybe it’s a fact that Fox will ignore what Democratic leaders have to say, but they will not ignore what attorneys for Dominion have to say and what they will demand for having spewed lies for year. But I personally don’t want to shrug off what Democrats are doing in response and mock it, but that’s just me.

Far worse to say nothing.

Sure, Faux isn’t going to just say, “Oh okay, we’ll stop.” They’re unrepentant degenerates. But it’s still necessary to say it should stop and keep
working to change the framing of the public conversation about the whole thing.

Not a chance in hell it will change anything, but It’s worth speaking up about, rather than staying silent. Might get a few Fox viewers to ask “what’s this about?” since Fox is not covering their Dominion lawsuit. A very few.

Schumer and Jeffries should have printed the letter on green paper. Murdoch might read it then.

Hmmm…”rescind” FOX’s license. And which license might that be?

Poetic?

I’m no I expert on what license is needed by Fox to call itself a “news” station. Any ideas?

Fox “News” is to poetry what William Faulkner is to the proper use of short declarative sentences.
