Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) was quick to classify President Trump’s Sunday tweet aimed at him as a threat during an interview on MSNBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Schiff is very good at throwing shade mixed with shame. Very nuanced, very subtle, but there’s no mistaking his meaning. “Republican senators, prove you’re not Trump’s bitchiz”

I hope this is a foreshadowing of the strategy they’ll employ post-“exoneration.” Call it the GOP’s cover-up. I believe this is a very important aspect of the House strategy.
Josh and others have described an “outrage offramp” that the GOP is eager to take. I think that’s true.
I think that same diagnosis suggests that we need to find a way to extend some kind of “reconciliation roundabout” – House Dems and the American electorate need to provide a face-saving pathway for Trump’s hostages to extricate themselves from his grasp so they can reverse themselves on impeachment. That will not be easy.
We will never remove Trump if our entire plan is to pound his allies and the base with Facts until they submit. They will never swallow their pride. Wounded pride is the very same soil in which Trumpism sprouted, and the brainwashed Foxers will gladly make Trump King rather than surrender one shred of that pride. We need some kind of rhetorical judo that allows all of us to reframe the situation.
Even if you believe, as I do, that every elected Republican in this country is a bad-faith agent working for organized money, I think we’re all going to be required to swallow our pride and put on a very good show of welcoming the GOP back into the fold as though they haven’t spent the last 4 years trying very hard to rape America to death.
We can deal with the rot inside the GOP after we prevent them from turning Donald Trump into the first King of America.

Am trying to compose a LTE to the Anchorage Daily News expressing my outrage at Lisa Murkowski’s feigned outrage(the “Outrage Off Ramp” compliments of Sherrod Brown) but the continuingly disgusting tweets by the man she supports just overwhelm my limited ability to adequately express that disgust. She and her sisters and brothers in the GOP Senate caucus first were “outraged” by Nadler’s honesty and then by Schiff honestly pointing out that a national news organization was reporting that a high up mucky muck in the dotard mafia was threatening retaliation on any GOPer who broke ranks. Of course they are threatening retribution, it’s normal now and Murkowski knows god damned well that she has helped normalize this disgusting, goonish behavior by not being vocally outraged by dotards attacks on everyone from Gold Star families to McCain to members of congress. But now she is outraged by Nadler and Schiff being the truthful messengers as opposed to not being outraged by the over 16,000 lies spewed by the dotard. Madness reigns in the capital.
