Sanders Denies Telling Warren Women Can’t Win | Talking Points Memo

AND … he’s not wrong. At all. Historically, and currently, the odds ARE against a woman becoming the US President no matter how Dem supporters feel about it. Attitudes are changing … but very slowly. Reality based politics is better than faith based … so let’s stick with reality.

Heart attacks aren’t always what they used to be. He had a blockage with no heart muscle damage, which required two stents, and was back campaigning in a week. Cheney had 5 of them and some heart pump going while in office, and he’s still alive!

It goes to show that Bernie didn’t get nearly the vetting in 2016 that he should have. Better it comes out sooner rather than later.

Well if your going by odds and who would typically win, he should just concede and support Biden.

Well, that’s the rumor.

Pretty much my attitude, as well. I’d say more, but I’m not interested in being chased by a Bernie zealot…

Being alive and running for President and then being President for 4 years are quite a bit different task load.

As long as Dick keeps his heart in that box guarded by that three-headed dog, he will live forever. :grimacing:

  1. At this point in the race any one of the candidates in the top four polling positions could win. Historically speaking, Democratic-leaning voters don’t firm up their preferences until late in the game. And remember, this race is typically decided by the undecideds and the independent voters.

  2. Conflict gets eyeballs, which in media means revenue. The media love a food fight. Remember that when considering media reports. If it stirs you up, don’t just react: be a critical media consumer. Recognize when you’re being played.

Biden sure wasn’t my top choice. But I will vote for anyone (other than Tulsi because she is insane) just to hold our democracy and the health of the planet together. And that is exactly what it all comes down to. The stakes are that high, and that simple. But I would have to hold my nose to vote for Bernie. If he had acted with the slightest bit of interest in the welfare of this nation, he would have gotten out of 2016 gracefully and graciously, encouraged his supporters to vote for HRC instead of pissing in the Democratic well, and we WOULD have a woman President right now. Bernie is only marginally more favorable than Tulsi, in my book.

Sander’s ain’t even a Democrat. His press secretary allegedly voted for Jill Stein. I would take Warren over Sanders all day.

Or the neighbor on the other side has a wicked sense of humor…

And you expect the media to accept this and report it accurately if the Trump cronies start spreading stories about how Sanders is at death’s door? They certainly went right along with the Hillary health scare crap the last time around. IOKIYAR always. Cheney and Bernie would never get the same treatment. Never.

I hear you. More I could say too. Lots more…

Well if he wins, and can last until January 20th after which the veep (Tracey Abrams??) can take over if he meets his maker (but I hope he has many more years ahead) that would be okay.

More like proudly.

“It is ludicrous to believe that at the same meeting where Elizabeth Warren told me she was going to run for president, I would tell her that a woman couldn’t win,” Sanders said in the statement.

That’s a weird refutation. That type of meeting would be exactly the time to tell her what he thought of her chance of winning. That doesn’t prove he said it, but his response to the story is nonsensical.

I’m not so sure about that. I’d rather have Warren than Biden, but if Warren drops out I’d vote for Biden in the primary to keep Bernie from winning.

His “I alone can fix it” populism doesn’t do it for me, and I think among all the candidates still in the race, Trump would have the easiest time demonizing Bernie and winning another term.

I don’t know how many Warren supporters feel that way. And I’m not a strong supporter, more of a least-worst choice at this point. But there may be many thinking that way. It’s why they chose Warren over Bernie, after all.
