He likes sailors who don’t die on purpose to make him look bad.
In a normal world the Navy would have had contingency plans for a pandemic’s effects on the fleet. And they would have acted on that plan without making a big fuss. In a normal world the Secretary of the Navy would be primarily concerned about the Navy.
Ah. Thanks. Maybe a lifer, you retire after 20 years in your early 40s, not bad.
The Navy only names ships for people who are dead.
“We are not at war. Sailors do not need to die,”
Well one just did. I hope this shines a light on what really happened on that ship the day that letter was written. A prescient leader that was THERE…on that ship with those men saw a catastrophe developing. As a leader he took the initiative to interdict that catastrophe but was side lined by his superiors for political reasons. He became desperate and frustrated and the human in him came out in a letter that he had NO PART in leaking. He begged as you often have to do with Military Brass. That’s an officer. That’s what an officer does. They don’t do politics. At least not the good ones.
He did what he did because he was there and a good Captain. He was canned by a draft dodger that never set foot on that ship.
There’s a reason 1000 sailors on that ship applauded the Captain but a bunch of political jerks headed up by a draft dodger did not. Because that’s what military folks do. And pols do the pol thing. It’s what they do. When this Trump thing s over the US Military has a bunch of soul searching to do.
They’ve named a few after folks still alive. The GHW Bush was named while he was still alive.
An older crew member might mean that he was in his 30’s.
Except your target audience doesn’t read and never developed any critical thinking skills.
From the story:
On the day the
soldiersailor had tested positive,…
In the naval world, this makes a difference.
History is rife with examples of the Navy camouflaging its own institutional incompetence (or providing cover for the White House) by scapegoating the skipper at the scene. The sinking of the Indianapolis in 1945, the attack on the Liberty in 1967, and the turret explosion of the Iowa in 1989 are such cases. So is the relief of CPT Crozier.
The difference is that in the previous cases, sailors died prior to the skipper’s frame-up.
Now they’re dying afterward.
I’m hoping 45* will bring healing to the family by signing the mother’s photograph of her dead son.
More fake news — the sailor obviously deliberately died just to make Trump look bad and hurt his ratings.
The most riveting scene in Jaws is when the captain recounts his experience on the USS Indianapolis.
Umm, it’s Comrade Cadet Bone Spurs, to you.
Another disgusting display brought to you courtesy of the shit show Trump Administration.
Can’t wait for the Trump Victory Parade down Pennsylvania Ave. celebrate his wartime leadership and victory over Covid 19.
Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, tanks, marching bands, flyovers.
All to celebrate HIS awesome leadership.
Waiting for the proposal in 3…2…1…
I guess the person that leaked news of this death will have to be fired. Then apologized to.
Congrats Trump. You killed a sailor, you pathetic blob of crap.
It’s OK – better not having him show up to spin the response and lend a patina of respectability to the administration’s flailing and corrupt response.
Besides, I’m sure he’ll have plenty of opportunity to speak a the investigative hearings afterwards.
…or “expendable “…
