It’s not even a new idea.
There’s an old British series that they sometimes show here called Conspiracy. It’s on Netflix. In an episode on Cold War conspiracy theories, one guy posits (at least somewhat plausibly as conspiracy theories go) that the Russian sub that blew up and sank off Hawaii in the late 60s was ready to launch when the missiles ignited in the tubes. He thinks that it was the result of a rogue KGB operation to bomb the US and blame it on the Chinese, resulting in war and leaving Russia the last one standing. A far better plot than what TFG came up with.

I’m not ruling anything out in these interesting times, but that would make Rubio the most hated person on the planet, or at least in the top five, and it seems far likelier that the twerpy little nonentity couldn’t resist tweeting because he’ll never stop thinking he’s going to have a comeback and be president. Just needs that one bit of extra buzz to get the old magic going!
