apparently that slow-walking has been happening, with the troop withdrawals, and possibly why several people just got fired? Twitler’s not happy about it.
Yes. And he’s from a red state that went for Trumpp by more than 20 points over Biden.
The shitload of times he didn’t open his mouth haven’t gone away, but speaking now is better than not speaking.
I share his concerns.
“This country is breaking up, but fear not, for we will have pieces in our time…” - all those asshole Republican enablers…
True, though somehow Vermont manages to be mostly rural and still mostly Democratic. I wonder how they do it.
Win the Senate run offs in Georgia, then pass a budget that limits cross-state subsidies to some fixed percentages of Federal tax revenues paid and put additional restrictions on payments tied to participation in Federal programs…
Here’s a thought that I’m too lazy to Google - wonder what the educational level is in VT compared to other rural states?
VT is small. The more rural and larger the state the more batshit Republican coz the folk in the hinterlands of large rural states are more isolated from outside social change. That’s my theory.
Nope - read the constitutional definition of treason, and ask yourself who we’re currently “at war” with. I do think there’s a pretty compelling case for sedition, though…
It’s the corollary for Josh’s “The GOP is a failed state and Trump is its warlord.” Additionally, the other GOPers want their own fiefdoms and to make Trump’s lack of vision a reality. They aren’t afraid of that world, they want it (so long as they get their piece).

Now…THERE’S a man I would really like to see impeached. What can we do to Kentucky to punish them for foisting this mongrel on us for 6 stinking more years? [/quote]
Sadly, Senators are not subject to impeachment. I’m kind of hoping for a major health crisis or death. The only other solution is to make damn sure we retake the Senate majority in 2022.
Romney voted to impeach Trump on one count. I’m not an admirer of Mitt, but I am grateful to him for speaking out.

It’s a theory that makes sense. Western MA, which is similarly rural to VT is also heavily Democratic, the only red areas are actually around the city of Springfield. So I guess Western MA and VT has lots of liberal farmers. (also helps there are a bunch of colleges in that area.)
And yet that doesn’t seem to hold true for Upstate NY or NH or ME. so I dunno. Something in the water of the Green Mountain/Berkshire Range?
The ‘sane’ wing of the GOP these days is quite miniscule - senators from Utah, Nebraska, Maine and Alaska and that is it. period.
Yes. And he’s from a red state that went for Trumpp by more than 20 points over Biden.
I just can’t with this calculus. Romney is a successful, wealthy man in a position to actually effect meaningful action in a highly consequential, if not existential, crisis. It’s hardly a profile in courage if he’s constrained by the prospects of his own political survival. The closest thing to a downside is he gets replaced by another Republican who’s equally unwilling to stand for the republic. He deserves far less than no credit.
I’m kind of hoping for a major health crisis or death.
Well, Mitch is 79 and KY has a Dem Governor Beshear - ready to fill that seat as soon as Mitch expires, not retires.
What would happen if Romney, Collins, and Murkowski phoned up Mitch McConnell to tell him they had formed their own caucus, and were committed henceforth to voting against the rest of the Republican caucus. Shit, they could practically appoint themselves rulers of the USA. They could crush Trump. They could “save” the Republican party.
I know, I know. Lucy, football, Charlie Brown.
Glad the NYT got the framing right in the headline instead of bothsidering-it.
I know, I know. Lucy, football, Charlie Brown.
Yes, but an excellent idea. Those three 'pubs could have stopped McConnell cold, and Trump too whenever they felt it necessary, when they determined he was becoming a monster and a real threat to our democracy, forcing him to deal with the Democrats. What would McConnell do, primary a popular red state senator up for his/her third or forth term reelection? One of many tragedies in this four year nightmare. I just hope the Republican Party pays the price over the coming decades.
Isn’t it strange that so many of these Trumpublicans display that same hand gesturing tic.
Yeah, it’s almost as common as the absence of chins.
