Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) bemoaned Thursday that Democrats didn’t just raise the debt ceiling themselves before Republicans got their grubby mitts on it.

He is pretty much using the domestic abuser excuse: “Stop making me have to hit you.”

Shorter Romney: “Why didn’t you stop us before we killed again?!”

(The age-old lament of every serial abuser who ever ended up murdering his wife or girlfriend.)

Romney is so full of it. There was no guarantee that either Sinema or Manchin would go along Puhleeze.

IIRC, that was exactly why it didn’t happen then, because those two shits acted up.

OK - technically he is not speaking a falsehood … but practically, rationally, pragmatically and in a multitude of other ways he is just full of rancid pandering manure! … and he knows it!

“Democrats are expected to ultimately act responsibly, and Republicans are expected to flirt with burning down the house — when those assumptions are baked in, you get headlines about the onus being on President Joe Biden and the Democrats to negotiate with Republicans…”

Well, yeah. Democrats who want to uphold the Constitutional requirements regarding payment of the public debt should most definitely give away all of their policy successes (which a majority of Americans support and rely on) to the Republicans who want to violate the Constitution and wreck the economy. What part of that doesn’t make sense to everybody?

Why the TAX AND SPEND Democrats not raise debt ceiling with 0 GOP votes?
Why? Why? Why?

Another of the many stark examples of why I could never be a Republican.

I watched a lady named Alcindor and an accompanying BothSider on The Eleventh Hour yesterday giving their opinions of the Debt Ceiling situation…

They were FANTASTIC

…for the Republicans

Would any of this gotten past the 60 vote cloture vote? I doubt it.

Is anyone else envisioning the big brother or sister grabbing a sib’s wrist and making their hand smack into their own head “Why are you hitting yourself?”?

But if it was so important to Romney, he could have voted for it his own self (and Kennedy who made similar comments today) For that matter “leader McConnell” could have gone beyond “calling” for a debt ceiling raise to be added to the reconciliation bill and, you know, gotten his caucus to vote for it.

Manchenema are a thorn in dems side only because republicans are united in opposition to any and all democratic initiatives

Yeah, I was screaming that the Dems should have at least tried to either suspend or eliminate it, as the GQP trying to destroy the economy was as foreseeable as night follows day, but one of Sinema or Manchin would have stopped it.

It’s stupid, ridiculous and insane that the GQP gets a live handgrenade every time it comes up under a Dem president.

It is not possible to be a Republican without being some combination of a lying weasel whiny asshole and a deluded halfwit.
