Several of the Pentagon’s top officials are mulling when it might be time to call it quits over President Trump’s lack of respect for the military’s chain of command, Politico reported.
Folks, not to push you but if you’re going to resign in protest don’t wait too long. It’s like punishing a misbehaving dog. If you wait too long you just confuse the dog. And a dog is smarter than Trump, so, you know, don’t be too low-key about this.
Trump knows nothing of military imperatives. He makes impetuous, ill-advised decisions springing forth from his narcissism, his need to dominate, and desire to demonstrate to his base he’s “owning the libs”. What do military commanders do if he orders a nuclear strike? It’s a given the highest levels of the command structure do not feel he’s qualified to make such a decision. Yet every interview I see with a specialist in the field says our nuclear force launch structure is not set up to second guess a President. Time is of the essence in a genuine nuclear confrontation. Yet Trump, by quiet acclamation, has no damned business making such a decision. If Hannity, Ingraham and Carlson ever get together one night and all go on extended harangues about N. Korea moving mobile nuclear launchers toward the DMZ we’re effed.
Well said. After going through the entire grief process, I have arrived at acceptance of the fact that FOX is running our country until further notice.
Let’s cut him some slack, since he finds it quite uncomfortable to be around dead soldiers this way. He did it early on and said nope, not doing that again. Must figure he has to again for some reason coughvotescough.
ETA seriously I was struck he did this, because I’d read he tried it once, figuring he’d Act Presidential and all, and it weirded him out. Maybe profound grief in others is a kind of kryptonite for him.
Don’t bet on it. Most general officers become political as they rise to the top. Most are so full of self love no amount of principal is going to move them. Perhaps some young company grade officers will decide the military is not for them because of this as well as some staff grade brass calling it quits at 20 but don’t expect the detached from reality O7 to O10 crowd to do much but look for ways to get more undeserved medals.
Had a neighbor whose dog would run away, then refuse to come when called. When the dog finally returned, the owner would swat him with a rolled-up newspaper, to punish him for being disobedient. I finally pointed out to him that he was teaching the dog that if he came when called, he’d be punished.
Fox and Stephen Miller. So much of Trump’s efforts are directed at pushing xenophobia, racism and anti-immigrants sentiments I have to believe Miller is his puppet master in that area. If Miller put his mind to it and worked over Trump for a few days I swear we’d see the return of internment camps and showers.
You’d think people would figure that out. Time for the positive reinforcement, genius. But some people are kind of hopeless with dog training. My dad never figured it out and he had an Ed. D. from Penn, for Christ’s sake.
And get black listed by the Military-Industrial Complex? No, thank you! Yeah. “Patriotism”, “Duty” and “Honor” are fine in slogans but they are no substitute to those million dollar “consulting” gigs that generals worked for so long.
