Now that they finally have a new House speaker, some congressional Republicans are mounting an effort to question the select committee investigation into the January 6 attack that wrapped up last year. Their push is the perfect fox and the henhouse type scenario. Some of the members most loudly attempting to question the official probe — including the new speaker — played a part in elements of the conspiracy-fueled push to challenge the 2020 presidential election results that was a major focus of the investigation.
We have a party running on retribution and a electorate stupid enough to believe that they will not be personally affected. The president is too old, the southern border is chaos, and inflation is running away, better give Trump another, what could we possibly lose?

Oh, c’mon, these are VERY serious elected officials. I’m absolutely certain they are only investigating to determine why they themselves have not been charged/indicted for their parts in the wonderful Capitol Tour of January 6th… /snark
Nah. There will be people who talk about violence in Jan 2025 after Trump loses, but the only reason Jan 2021 worked even as well as it did was because they had their guys in charge in key places. Let’s see those yahoos actually engage with a US Government that doesn’t want them to break in.
ETA: Also at least some of them are either in jail or sufficiently scared off after prosecuting them last time.
