The House Oversight Committee voted Thursday to table a motion to subpoena Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr to testify about ABC’s suspension of Jimmy Kimmel due to the host’s comments on Charlie Kirk’s killing. The vote came down on party lines. Ranking member Robert Garcia (D-CA), though, said that he and committee Chair James…

No one believed any of the Democrats a year ago that said any of what we’re seeing now would come to pass. It was all the sky is falling, it was all ignored, it was pushed aside because people didn’t like her laugh.

I’m baffled as to how he still has 40% approval ratings. What the hell is wrong with us?

During an interview with CNBC’s “Squawk on the Street” Thursday Carr outlined his belief that the FCC and the American “media ecosystem” overall are in the midst of a “massive shift,” given the “permission structure that President Trump’s election has provided.”

So, Comrade Carr believes that, given Donnie’s election, he’s now charged with getting American media with the program.

"It’s just we’re in the midst of a very disruptive moment right now, and I just, frankly, expect that we’re going to continue to see changes in the media ecosystem,” Carr said.

State-run media.

And complete censorship of all others.

Hey, we can try.

Even if legacy media bows down then can Trump & Co create enough new content 365 days a year? Coherent content at that? And what about advertisers? Will they be willing to keep paying for ad spots if viewership continues to decline?

During an Axios event on Thursday, FCC Commissioner Anna Gomez said that the FCC under the Trump administration is “weaponizing its licensing authority in order to bring broadcasters to heel”

This is a fascist takeover of our country.

The first amendment is dead.

The second amendment, an amendment I strongly disagree with, is getting only lip service, with Trump actively arguing that some people shouldn’t have second amendment rights.

The third amendment is being violated in spirit, by sending troops into our cities.

The Fourth amendment has long been violated at every single level, but most recently the Supreme Court actively supported undermining the Fourth amendment, allowing racial discrimination.

The fifth amendment has been undermine slowly, but you’ll experience the fact that your fifth amendment rights aren’t respected the moment you come into any sort of non-consensual encounter with the police.

The sixth amendment is ignored and virtually every district, with people locked up pretrial for years.

The 7th amendment is universally ignored, with virtually every criminal infraction being settled because prosecutors have all the power, and because prosecutors are ignoring the Fourth amendment.

The 8th amendment is ignored in every district with anyone sitting in jail for failure to pay bail

The 9th amendment is ignored, with Congress actively seeking to control every aspect of our lives.

The tenth amendment, that too. Congress is trying to tell the states that they have to ignore people’s rights.

Lawyers can tell me if the 11th is being violated.

The 12th is being violated by the president, when he claims that he did not lose the 2020 election.

The 13th is irrelevant because it doesn’t say anything, having an exception that makes it completely meaningless.

Every single line of the 14th amendment has been violated by this administration. Every single one.

With their attempts to force people to ID and control who can vote, the 15th amendment is clearly being violated by the Republican party. Similarly, conservatives consistently argue that the 19th amendment is invalid, and they’re constant demands for ID to vote violate the 24th and 26th amendments as well.

The 22nd amendment is being violated in spirit by Trump, especially when he advocates for a third term.

The 23rd was violated by Trump in 2020.

The 25th amendment, let’s see what happens.

The 28th amendment isn’t even acknowledged as existing.

That’s just the amendments. You can find many lines in the body of the Constitution that Trump and the Republicans are violating every day.

I conclude that our constitution is no longer being enforced as the supreme law of the land.

30% racist and 10% not paying any attention or think he was a successful businessman.

The previous “successful businessman” we had was W.
I almost miss him. Almost.

Smug twit thinks he can control the levers of culture. As Josh pointed out he’s just creating new markets. Carr can have the husk of old media and rerun Lawrence Welk indefinitely but he can’t control what’s cool. The fool.

The massive shift maybe that soon almost no one will be watching over the air off the broadcasters.

Sinclair’s station value may be near nothing.

“…the permission structure that President Trump’s election has provided.”

FFS, why is this bogus notion of a mandate not called out all the time?

He received 49.8% of the popular vote, NOT EVEN A MAJORITY, while Harris received about 48.3%., a difference of 1.5%.

The opposition, whoever they may be, needs to keep yelling about this until they’re hoarse.

Has Kimmel made any public statement about this yet, or did I miss it? I’m sure he’s talking to lawyers, planning next moves and all that. But it’s a day later now. It’s time for the country to hear how he responds to being canceled for what he said. Or is he just going to lawyer up and remain schtum through the weekend?

If it’s any consolidation, all that really needs to be explained is the 14% in excess of the irreducible Keynes Constant.

“Trump has also been aided by decades of lax antitrust enforcement and decades of media mergers that has seen the entertainment industry consolidate in fewer and fewer conglomerates. The rampant condensation gives Trump both fewer targets on which to focus his attention, and immense leverage over the companies seeking favorable regulation or government approval for further mergers and acquisitions.”

Let us not forget that much of this happened while Democrats were in power.
