Originally published at: Republican Attacks On GAO Escalate After Office Condemns DOGE Cuts
A top Trump administration official and Republicans in Congress are upping their attacks on the Government Accountability Office in light of its finding last week that one element of the Trump administration’s DOGE rampage was done in violation of the Impoundment Control Act of 1974. White House budget chief Russ Vought joined a few members…
Hitting back on these bastards is imperative. Every institution they attack needs to fight back because there is strength in numbers. Eventually they will have picked more fights than they can handle.
Frist ! But even Kombo Kat is fresh out of outrage now. The temptation is to point out that people get the government that they deserve but nobody deserves this kind of utter disrespect. Of course tRump said right out front what he was going to do but with such non-stop lying there was little reason to believe him !
Dang ! In the words of Agent 86 " I missed by this much " !
The GAO lives in the legislative branch of government, so fuck off Russ. Stay in your lane.
“These are non-events with no consequence. Rearview mirror stuff…”
Vought is a truly Orwellian creep whose native language is Doublespeak.
Hitler rose to power on the basis of revenge, hatred, discrimination, divisiveness, self-righteousness, and megalomania. Does that sound familiar?
Surprise surprise surprise. They hate the GAO. There was never the ghost of al sliver of a micron that they wouldn’t. T
Godwin.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is in hot water again.
From the Guardian: “while Hegseth’s former junior military aide Ricky Buria has in effect assumed the job of the chief of staff, the White House has blocked Hegseth from giving him the job permanently on account of his limited experience.”
But “President Trump is confident in the secretary’s ability to ensure top leadership at the Department of Defense.”
Apparently Hegseth’s extensive experience has spared him suffering the same lack of confidence fate as Buria.
Space X just lost control of it’s latest rocket. It’s going to plunge back to Earth in an uncontrolled re-entry and break apart. Nobody really knows where the pieces will land tho Space X is saying the Indian Ocean. Isn’t it time to haul Elon Musk before Congress to explain his safety record with the entire planet ?
Standing up to them is a prime imperative now. From the institutional to the individual level. What they are doing is trashing not only how this country operates, but who we think we are. The Trump era is one in which they want to redefine us, without permission.
For the moment, there are no governors. They can afford to pick endless fights using the endless war chest of our government. they want to keep everyone off keel and staggering so they can plunder this country like the slimy thieves they are. They certainly are not consolidating their power structure in a meaningful way. Pure euphoria of being without restraints. And that will get them eventually. It is like an all sugar diet.
In the mean time, before they fold on themselves, we need stay who we are. Keep fighting, keep notes, make sure there are copies of the SOP manuals and be ready to rebuild.
And we need to make sure their brand is publicly tarnished. They spent a lot of time demonizing being a liberal or a Democrat. We spend a lot of time addressing their individual members. There needs to be some adjustment to allow their brand to become the pariah that it is.
“The GAO has no authority,” Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso (R-WY) said
Good to know.
It’ll be very helpful to set Congress aside as we shut down the nation’s CO2 generators.
He makes it sound like somebody’s trying to take over the government.
Nothing that can’t be solved by funneling a few more tens of billions to Musk. After all, he’s a genius who is now renewing his focus.
According to Wapo it was a “partially successful test.”
Yeah… and when they just blow up they say it’s an " unscheduled rapid disassembly "
““They are going to call everything an impoundment because they want to grind our work to manage taxpayer dollars effectively to a halt. These are non-events with no consequence. Rearview mirror stuff,” Vought continued.”
Somebody needs to remind Vought that the Constitution gives exclusive power over all fiscal matters to the Congress. The Executive has no such power. Its job is to spend the money that Congress has allocated on what Congress allocated it for. Period. Every instance of Executive impoundment of Congressionally appropriated funds is unconstitutional, and in addition, a violation of the Impoundment Control Act. Vought is advocating the abrogation of the Constitution. I believe the common term for that is “sedition”.
Stay in your lane isn’t what I was thinking for this sociopath.
