Republican Attacks On GAO Escalate After Office Condemns DOGE Cuts

Based on his comments to the reporter on the tarmac, President Trump is very angry at Vladdy. The President had expected that Liddle Marco would have a peace deal in 24-48 hours, max, and has failed.

Now,I am hearing that President Trump could be preparing to attack Moscow, St. Pete, Yekaterinburg, Novsibirsk, and other Russian cities. I would not be surprised if advance operations by the Special Forces are already underway. It is time, in my view.

The rate on the 30-year treasury has risen from 1.5% in 2020 to over 5% last week. Moody’s has already downgraded the US credit rating. This has serious implications. First, US government debt to GDP is about 125% and private debt to GDP is about 220%. If US GDP this year is about $30 trillion, that’s $103.5 trillion in debt. Moreover, the traditional pattern for governments that try austerity is that it only drives up private borrowing (and vice versa in time of government generosity). One would expect Congress and the business community to have serious discussions, but instead we have people who believe the debt can be wiped out with crypto or AI. Prudent investors have begun to discuss the “Trump” premium. They are also concered about China, which has an economy similar in size to that of the US and high total debt to GDP (90% government and 195% private, total 285%) but also “hidden debt” also faces problems such as a deflationary spiral. Probably not a good time to have a Treasury Secretary who straight up lies, or a fiscally insane Congress.

Republican and the word Accountability as in GAO is a contradiction in terms.

Bongo is bluffing. It’s not the impulsive they are worried about, it’s the person who plans ahead. Bongo just doesn’t want to have to track down millions of threats. It’s no stretch to say that half of this country wants the F.F. dead. They can’t begin to keep up with the threat level now, any more than they can find and round up 10 million illegal aliens. Rather, they single out people to arrest who will make the biggest splash. Bongo is in over his head.

Why is Musk being given money by the federal government? Richest man on earth who doesn’t want to spend his own money.

Let’s see, the Senate GQP majority is ignoring the parliamentarian and Vought is trying to shut down a legislative office. Sounds good to me! It just keeps getting worse…

From the Guardian article on the Hegseth investigation:

“…Trump advisers tracking the investigation have privately suggested they no longer have any idea about who or what to believe.”

The office of the Secretary of Defense is filled with liars. How could that have happened?

From a Politico interview with Mike Godwin published on 12/19/2023:

In comparing Trump to Hitler, is the Biden campaign losing the argument based on Godwin’s law?

I’ve never said that just because you’re invoking the Nazis you’re losing the argument. If you’re going to compare somebody to Hitler or the Nazis or raise the specter of the Holocaust, be sure you’ve got your facts right. But there’s nothing categorically wrong with Biden’s — or anyone else’s — comparison of Trump calling people vermin or talking about blood poisoning to Hitler.

I wasn’t a particular scholar of Hitler or the Nazis before, and I still don’t count as one, but I’ve always taken pains to know enough history to know whether a comparison was valid. And in general, dehumanizing rhetoric is a hallmark of Hitler’s rhetoric. So, Trump’s opening himself up to the Hitler comparison.

Congress has abdicated that responsibility to the Executive branch. Since the constitutionally responsible branch has walked away from that responsibility, the vacuum is being filled by the Executive branch. Until Congress takes back its power, there is no alternative.

That’s the point. Congress can pass all of the laws and resolutions it wants to cede its constitutionally enumerated powers to the President, but every one of them is null and void - it cannot legally cede any of its enumerated powers. The only way any enumerated powers can be ceded or transferred is through Constitutional amendment. In a rational world, every single assumption of Congressional power by the President would be cause for impeachment.

What it boils down to is that there is no need for Congress to “take back” any of the powers that it still has (even if it neglects to use them). All it has to do is exercise them.

Of course, that would require a break with the hyperpartisanship currently infecting the GOP. And it would also require a SCOTUS that actually supported the Constitution rather than rule by partisan fiat. The chances of those happening are approximately nil as long as Trump is worshiped by the press and by his minions. So much for being a nation of laws, not men, eh?
