I’ve had some misgivings about the impeachment focusing solely on this topic - there are just so many crimes needing to be exposed. But with reflection - I think it’s the right thing to do.
A talking head on the TeeVee yesterday, reminded me that the Mueller Report fell flat - almost entirely - because John Q Public couldn’t understand that what the prez did BEFORE he was elected - was in any way a crime.

Don’t forget a big part of what Manafort did in Ukraine was get his “client”'s main political rival, a well-liked and well-respected woman, locked up in prison on trumped-up corruption charges.
I don’t believe this story at all. It sounds like Trump trying to take the edge off his responsibility. Next Rudy will become the fall guy.
To me the bigger immediate story is how deeply is Bob Barr implicated. What did he know and when did he know it? It looks like Bob Barr enlisted the DOJ to participate in what was blatant criminal activity. How do we trust the DOJ ever again?

OK I’m on Team Impeach Trump for this, and this only. And it’s because in this one incident it involves all the right people, it is scheme with multiple offences, and By Gum it’s almost if this was by design.

Manafort is learning that Trump can never keep his side of the bargain. Something that was intended to save Manafort’s tail, as soon as as Trump saw that he could profit from it himself, made the thing too large and it blew on his face, now Manafort gets to stay in jail.

Honestly, I hope Trump pardons him. He got a much lighter sentence then he deserved from the federal conviction. A pardon would spur NY to throw the book at him and get him the life sentence he deserves.
