Report: Trump’s Claim That Officer Who Fatally Shot Ashli Babbitt Is Fully Wrong

The U.S. Capitol Police officer who fatally shot Ashli Babbitt on January 6 as she was trying to break into the hallway where lawmakers were evacuating was not security detail assigned to a specific member of Congress, NBC News reports.

Trump lied? Imagine that…

It continues to shock and dismay me that so many people are willing and able to disregard what we all saw and heard with our own eyes and ears in real time. Reality? We don’t need no stinking’ reality!

The ex-president also called Babbitt an “innocent, wonderful, incredible woman,” part of his attempt to rebrand the violent mob of his supporters and the events of that day as “peaceful.”

She was a nutbar:

Babbitt also had a history of confrontational behavior. In 2016, she was charged with reckless endangerment, dangerous driving and malicious property damage in Maryland, but she was later acquitted, according to court records. A former girlfriend of Babbitt’s husband wrote in the application for a protection order against Babbitt that Babbitt had followed her in a car and rear-ended her three times, multiple news outlets reported.

Could someone please parse the headline as it makes no sense. Something is missing and implied.

That said, I’ve been wondering how we can get through to even some of the people who believe everything he says and inhabit the alternative reality that he and other Repubs and the RWNM propogate. Even if they’re “only” 30-40% of Americans, that’s a dangerously high number. It used to be that they believed that Social Security was a Ponzi Scheme. Now it’s that they believe that it’s a communist plot by cannibalistic pedophiles to steal their bodily fluids.

How do you get through to that? He’s not speaking to us or the other 60-70%, but to Trump Nation. And it’s working. If he told them that Biden melted down the Statue of Liberty and turned it into Bitcoin, they’d believe it, even if they were literally standing in front of it. They’d say “No, that’s a fake that he put up after he melted down the real one!”.

“The ex-president also called Babbitt an ‘innocent, wonderful, incredible woman’.”

In all fairness, he also said that about Irma Grese.

Personally, I am astounded that more people were not shot by the police on Jan 6. In any other circumstance, if an individual beat, shocked, gouged out the eye, or bear-sprayed a police officer, the officer or their colleagues would not hesitate to use deadly force. Ashli Babbitt was breaching a barrier established to protect members of Congress and disregarded multiple warnings to cease and go no further. That the officer fired to protect their charges is undeniable. It is a testament to their discipline that more of the insurgents were not shot.

Re: Your headline question. TFG said that officer who shot the woman was part of Schumer’s security detail. It really doesn’t matter, but it was an open question. Unsurprisingly, that too was a complete lie.

A more inclusive headline, IMHO…

Inclusive and accurate.

I imagine that the skin color of these “tourists” also had something to do with it. Plus none were known to be carrying bags of Skittles, wearing hoodies, trying to pass counterfeit $20 bills or selling individual cigarettes.

She was a traitor. Period. Full Stop.

In addition to her history of violent behavior, Babbitt was also an enthusiastic member of a community centered on eliminationist rhetoric.
What she would have done if provided with an opportunity to put her ideas about how to properly address the alleged pedophilia and cannibalism of the Democratic leadership into action is an open question.
Fortunately, we never had to find out.

Babbitt, shown above, shortly after her capture by Union troops.

Technically, no, she was not. She was criminally trespassing, committing vandalism, threatening police officers, members of congress and others in the building, and so on, but she did not wage war on the US or aid and abet those who were.

There, fixed it for you.

When I watched the New York Times 40 minute video last week I was somewhat surprised by the officers restraint but then realized that it needed to measured since it prevented an even worse conflagration inside the capitol and possible mass murder.

To brand her any other way would mean that El Twitlero was guilty of inciting her to riot in the Capitol building leading to her death. In other words, El Twitlero is trying to avoid being sued for the cupability he holds in her death basically.

Can we all at least agree that whether or not Ashli Babbitt was formally a “traitor,” or a nutjob, or even a dangerously deranged spouse, the Capitol Police officer who fatally shot her is clearly a lizard-man seconded to D.C. from the secret sub-sub-basement of the Denver International Airport (aka the Soros Fortress), sent to 2020 from the distant past by the notorious time-witch Hillary Clinton, to do whatever it took to stop Donald Trump from winning re-election in a landslide of eleventy billion votes, and it was Babbitt’s bad luck to be the one person whose absence would guarantee that?

ETA: corrected my inexcusable omission of Soros, per @bgister’s kind advice. It turns out the piece of yarn that connected DIA to Soros’ “domination infrastructure” had come loose. I blame the on-again/off-again humidity, which has truly played havoc with my improvised OH MY GOD THE SCREAMING THE SCREAMING THE SCREAMING THE SCREAMING THE SCREAMING THE SCREAMING
