President Donald Trump, still bent on spreading false information on Monday, sought to blame “antifa” for a deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol last week during a call with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), Axios reported.
I guess it depends on what your definition of “delusional” is. Nobody has ever said he hears voices. But these self-apologia completely divorced from reality in private conversations with supporters suggests he can’t psychologically bear to face his failures and atrocious behavior, even in his own mind. At least in layperson terms, that’s delusional. He has to invent a different, more bearable reality than the one you and I see in front of us.
A day later, after Trump reviewed press coverage of a video message he released on Thursday calling for “healing and reconciliation,” a senior White House official told the Post that the President expressed regret for posting the reconciliatory message, suggesting it made him look weak.
Re McCarthy’s (alleged) push-back here with Trump on the antifa stuff, I wonder if McCarthy also had a chance to have a chat with Matt Gaetz on his making the exact same claim.
One adviser described to the Post a mesmerized Trump “just watching it all unfold,” live on television.
How much more proof than this is necessary to convince Republicans that immediate impeachment/Section 3-14th Amendment/25th Amendment/criminal charges are mandatory NOW???
He could have slung an AR-15 over his shoulder, led the crowd up the Mall, and started shooting any cops standing in his way, and Collins would express disapproval of his methods, but note that there were questions about vote totals, and, anyway, it’s just too late in the game to remove him, and he must have learned his lesson.
