Report: Top Trump Enabler In House To Announce AL Senate Bid After Helping Incite Insurrection

Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL), who helped lead the crusade by Republican lawmakers to steal the 2020 election on ex-President Donald Trump’s behalf that eventually led to the Capitol insurrection in January, is reportedly poised to launch a campaign for the Senate next week.

“…anti-Christian socialists…”

Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

[“Last week, Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) requested the House Committee on Ethics and the Office of Congressional Ethics to open an investigation into Brooks, along with Reps. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) and Paul Gosar (R-AZ), for “instigating and aiding” the Capitol attack.”]

Well there is this:

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any state, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any state legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any state, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.

He wants to learn the back hallways on the Senate side as well before the next time “Patriots” storm the Capitol.

With any luck, AG Garland will announce that Brooks is being investigated for Sedition.

If these fake christians were actually Christians I’d feel inferior to them.

Seems un/mis-informed. Subject of the article should read Mo Books.

And until the interminable investigations are completed, this won’t have any merit or basis.

And that’s the sin of it: it’s too far away from the event, the Right has re-written history to its minions that 6 January was no big deal and any effort of the Dems to implement this will be met with screams of partisanship and whatever happened to working together. Never mind that the GQP has done nothing toward the effort of working together, but why confuse them with the facts?

It’s too late in the game for this to be used. Way too late. It’s taken entirely too long to come up with the evidence.

Insurrection Election Rejection.

You can do it, Alabama.

During the Obama years, Mo was a regular on a couple of cable news shows. At that time, he proved beyond the proverbial shadow that he is a fool. Imagine him and Tuberville representing Alabama. I can’t imagine there are enough fools in even Alabama to see this happen. O wait. We haven’t heard from Pope Nick Saban (Manchin’s BFF) on this topic yet.

The evidence of Mo Brooks giving aid and comfort to the insurrectionists is on video. Moreover:

But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

So the Senate can just refuse to seat him in the absence of a two-thirds vote of both houses.

Will they do so? Of course not. But they could play hardball, even if they choose not to do so.

“I make no apology for doing my absolute best to inspire patriotic Americans to not give up on our country and to fight back against anti-Christian socialists in the 2022 and 2024 elections,” the congressman said in a statement.

According to Mo, there is no “patriotism” in living in reality and acknowledging the truth, but “owning the libs” fills that void all too well. Sedition provides too much emotional satisfaction for too great a portion of America, and that is the target audience for the Republican Party.

This is the problem the GQP is going to face all over the country next year. They’ll have guys like Brooks in AL and Gym Jordan in OH either forcing them to spend money to shore up seats that are Republican +20 or outright losing seats that any sane, competent Republican would win. Democrats just need to keep on delivering the goods while never missing an opportunity to remind voters who delivered the goods and who tried to stop them.

The dress rehersal in January went off with only minor incoveneince the critical players in the insurrection.

They’re positioning thier pawns to get it right next time.

Very on-brand for the stupid party. Because while stupidity is general in the stupid party, Mo Brooks is egregiously stupid. Try to remember a thing he ever said or did that wasn’t stupid. You can’t do it.

It is the ‘even if they choose not to do so’ that makes me crazy.

You know, if the shoe were on the other foot, that the GQP would censure everyone involved, even without the evidence, if they could get away with it.

The Dems are just too timid. There. I’ve said it. This is not up for debate - as you state, the evidence is there. Why has nothing been done about this, apart from removing the idiot from GA from committees (and it wasn’t even for her role in the insurrection)?

Brooks’ base has been celebrating insurrection against the US government for over 160 years. They live for it.

They did impeach the ringleader, you know. It’s the biggest gun they have.
