Report: State Dept Escalates Investigation Into Clinton Emails

Okay, fair enough - drop both the Biden Ukraine story and the Hillary email story, but for the love of Dog we need to get to the bottom of this “Whistle-blower Form’s Been Edited” story , or the terrorists will have won!

I’m so sorry you have to deal with in law stoopidity on an otherwise lovely day :pensive:

Trump can’t win a fair election but obviously would be okay with hackers changing votes or whatever it takes.

That’s all its about so he can now go on using it as a talking point. He’ll never get into any details about it but rather just reference that an investigation is underway, thus proving only by the level of his bluster that there is still something there to uncover.

The only problem is that there’s no there there, and never has been. It’s 2019, and very few beyond his biggest cult followers will think this is a real investigation worthy of our country’s resources. It’d be laughable if tRump wasn’t so desperate to change the subject and get the heat off himself in the most absurd ways.

I think the Democrats have to strike back on this one. Go after Ed Meese! And what about George Schultz? I bet that guy is not as clean as he seems (OK, seemed). Fight fire with fire!

On Meet the Press, Steve Scalise kept insisting that Trump is the one investigating Russian interference and the one who is helping Ukraine to protect itself. (One of his talking points was clearly that the interference occurred while Obama was president, as if that somehow implicates Obama and the Democrats.) It was insane, but probably effective with the base, which desperately wants to get out from under the magnifying glass. (Chuck Todd, not surprisingly, did a miserable job in the interview, which he let Scalise completely control.)

Edit: Michael McFaul, also on Meet the Press, is doing a better job at showing what was really going on with Ukraine. Zelensky winning the election was a bit of a wrench in the plan. (If their preferred candidate had won, they would not have had to resort to extortion.)

I read somewhere that the statute of limitations is 5 years. Hillary’s been out of office for over 6.5 years. I think we’ve found our witch-hunt.

This is about confusing the public since Trump has no actual defense for abuse of power and subverting national security

Another count for the impeachment/indictments.

At this point, it’s just reflexive, like an involuntary muscle spasm. Or specifically, like the intestines of a slaughtered sheep. When you take them out of the sheep’s body and place them in a bowl, they continue to move for hours after the sheep has been butchered, doing whatever intestines are supposed to do.

Yes, and perhaps if they’d done this a couple of months ago they could pretend that the impeachment inquiry was in response. They didn’t, and now this is blatant retaliation for opening an impeachment inquiry and it’s retaliation against someone who really has nothing to do with the scandal that sparked the inquiry. It might have even had the thinnest reed of at least looking like they’re hitting back at the folks who hit them first had they gone after a sitting member of Congress. No, they’ve just dug up an old investigation of a former rival. I don’t imagine this will go over well.

How can the investigators (Barr, Pompeo) investigate when they, themselves, are under investigation by the HOR for collaboration with impeachable offenses? They have demonstrated beyond any doubt that they serve t rumpp’s personal interests, and not the interests of the country or the US Constitution. They are no longer qualified to carry out any investigations involving classified information. Beyond that, what purpose does this repetitive investigation of HRC’s emails serve, other than to satiate the Dotard’s personal whims?

Someone in the press needs to ask Trump to explain Medicare vs Medicaid to show his Fox News base he’s actually an incompetent idiot. Trying to give them facts about conspiracy theories does not work.
