Well, given that they can’t impeach Clinton and that no grand jury would ever approve of an indictment regarding this matter, it’s obviously intended to rally the base, misdirect public attention, promote bothsiderism, and intimidate would-be witnesses in the upcoming impeachment hearings.
None of which will ultimately change anything about what’s about to happen. This is a rearguard defensive action that won’t matter a bit in the end. They’re basically shooting whatever livestock they can’t take with them–and mostly missing at that. Most of those “goats” are actually bales of hay.
We’re going to impeach the mofo, the only questions being what the senate will do, and how it will affect the 2020 election. But whether Repubs convict or not, it will hurt them. They’re fucked, which is good.

Pence will be damaged goods, regardless of whether or not a pardon is issued. (I think the GOP will push to have Trump resign, which means a pardon will be required, so McConnell can avoid having GOP Senators accountable for their votes to remove or not).
It ain’t going to be Rick Scott. Nobody’s going to ask him to run, for starters. He barely squeaked by with a recount vote for his Senate seat. Look to someone like Kasich. Though realistically, its going to be whoever they can con into being the sacrificial lamb for the good of the party.

I disagree. There are lots of people who care about this–and they’re all Trump-worshipping imbeciles, mostly aging white male losers who never amounted to much and never could stand up to their asshole dad and need someone else to blame and beat up on. They’re cowards and fools and they may as well not exist. But there isn’t just one of them and it’s obvious why they love Trump, the Uber Loser.

Does this mean the next president can go after tRump, using whatever arm of gov’t at his/her disposal, after he’s out of office to follow up on all his malfeasance and crimes while in office? Do better this time. Same goes for the Biden story they’re desperately trying to put out there. When something has been debunked, that needs to be put at the top of every article on these counter-narratives in order to make it clear what the distraction is about, instead of trying to let tRump muddy the waters with his unfounded accusations. This is nothing more than another abuse of power on his part to use the power of his office to go after his perceived enemies. Full stop.

That was my first thought since the emails were retroactively classified, any legal action against doing some thing legal and proper at the time it was done would be unconstitutional.* Just another case of Clinton Derangement Syndrome(CDS) © I suppose.

The 2020 election is lost to them no matter who they run. They know that. My guess is that they’ll try to get Trump to resign and let Pence run, to save face and be better positioned for 2024, but he’ll refuse, lose by a landslide, grumble about election fraud, then resign, so Pence can pardon him. Which is why, if there’s any way to do it, Pence should be implicated as well, so that any such pardon is politically damaging to Repubs, and they dare not do it. That’s my most likely best case scenario.
