Report: Santos Tells House GOP He Will Recuse Himself From House Committee Seats

Given that Brazilian authorities are waiting for him for his past crimes, I think his only option is to try to fit into Bolsonaro’s hotel mini-bar down in Florida.

Another victim of cancel culture! We all lose when this happens. The House Science, Space and Technology committee lost its most qualified member, the man who more than any of his colleagues has the skills and creativity needed to build the many alternate realities we need to defeat the evidence-mongering cabal of socialist pedophile scientists and pointy-headed woke academics.

My first response was amazement that for once he did something smart. Then I realized he was probably pressured into it by McCarthy or others, after realizing that raising his profile with committee seats was a mistake. I just wonder what he was promised to get him to step down.

Yeah, but something made Qevin act.

Maybe felony charges are the limit, eh? It’s a pretty f***ing low standard, but even a lower-than-whale-shit standard is a standard.

Probably told him you’ll be voted out and there goes your $15,000/month salary. Likely the most money he ever really made in life… legally that is.

…but Maddie said there would be cocaine and orgies!

Interesting. Tea leaves whispered to me that CTN told Kev he’d be hiding resting in the lounge and for someone to come get him any time Kev needed his vote. Oh, and make sure whomever you send also tells me how to vote

Came here to say just that. His criming is so basic that the prosecutors have been moving at lightning speed on a basic financial campaign criming scheme case and we must be pretty darned close to indictment if he’s not even bothering to pretend to try to be a real congresscritter.

Grift until you can no longer grift no mo’. Santos is following the Playbook. Just like Donnie, he’s a Girthy Grifter.

He needs more time to hide in his office and send out for cupcakes.

Or better yet, pay him under the table to caucus with the Dems. Dems wouldn’t have to show him any support or respect publicly, just make sure he gets his baksheesh and that it’s well-laundered. All Santos has to do is vote against the pugs, which I’m sure he’d be more than happy to do for the right price. Santos wins, Dems win, we all win.

Said it elsewhere - is this how the GQP gets to banish the Dem committee folks they want banished? The argument has always been from McQ that Santos was duly elected, so he deserves assignments.

Well, so have Swalwell, Schiff and Omar. I hazard a guess that these three probably won their elections in their districts by larger margins than Santos did.

So by requiring (or whatever) Santos to step down from his assignments, can the GQP now use this to support the banishment of the Dems?

He’s recusing himself from committees but can vote when things come to the floor. Kevin needs every single vote. Kev to George, just keep your head down and vote the way I tell you to.

I’ll believe that when I see it. Betting on justice sometimes pays off, but betting on swift justice is generally more of a long shot.

George, who?

That’s what J6C and National Dems should have been busy doing for Insurrectionists, Coup Plotters, and Traitors for the last 2 years.

It would be unseemly to go to the mat for merely serial lying.

(but yes, if he did break actual laws they should go after Santos, but to my eyes it looks inverse to go after piddly stuff but not Traitors and Public Oath Betrayers)

The post political pension is his only aim.

That makes perfect sense. His ego and delusions of competence would make him unlikely to step down without a two-handed nudge.

Totally unprompted. No duress here. Nope. Totally did this all on his own. Nobody pressured, asked or prodded him to. This consistently defiant little Devil Monkey did this all on his own…

Yep.

Obviously.

Which is why something like him stepping down from his committee assignments is a big clue that we’re in one of those long shot conditions.

He needs free time to work on his defense against charges. Doesn’t mean we’re going to see a resignation soon, and cases take plenty of time, but this seems to portend at least the indictment much sooner rather than dragged out.
