Report Reveals Alleged Actions Of Capitol Police Officers Facing Jan. 6 Discipline | Talking Points Memo

Good lord, you’re tedious.

Trump seems to be the omnipresent malevolent entity behind our politics.

The $$$$$$ people have $$$$$$$ (fun) talking about him, but we have got to shift our discussions to those of grown-ups tackling (soon to be, maybe) insurmountable problems.

This isn’t a movie we are facing.

We have GOT to pass the legislation we are working on.

And do you have a statute criminalizing this conduct? No?

… why are you being like this?

Because the comment that started this was that the cop should be imprisoned, and I’m rather particular about what is and isn’t an actual crime.

Maybe the same law that a bank cop might break if he gave the vault combination to the bank robber?

little is known of these officers’ personal/political opinions so it is difficult to evaluate this info in any meaningful way or to understand the officer’s intents

my thought when reading this is that the CP must perform like a team to be effective, and how difficult it would be to work with a team member in a high stress situation if you cannot trust them to watch your back

It would be a Victory for Team Trump to make us alter our laws and procedures.

That’s the advantage Team Trump has:

No Scruples

That’s standard procedure for T.L.

These are small potatoes … I care that they get appropriate admonishment and even punishment … but Damn it …
BIG PICTURE ! BIG PICTURE! The big criminals who are pushing to blow everything up - need to be halted - permanently.
SERIOUSLY -the unequivocal intentions here were criminal - to orchestrate a coup … to reverse the results & via a tortured manipulation & mob chaos - subvert the process.

These thugs figure … no matter how destructive things get … SOME BODY is going to stand on top of the smoldering pile and -even if just by force of mob rule - proclaim themselves to be “in charge”… Trump and his MAGA loons do not give a flying bag of bull shit about whether they are cheating, or breaking the law or whatever (remember… strategies inspired by Roy Cohn, Roger Stone, John Gotti, etc. ) We are under attack … and these assholes want an oligarchy or simply a dictatorial strong man to have total control… they DO NOT WANT TO “SHARE” ANYTHING not power, not funds, not rights … not … EVER … especially since they know that they don’t win the shear numbers game.

I actually work in DC, as do my kids, who live there. So, I’m not playing.

How do you know that his friend wasn’t among the mob? The guy who turned him in said he was in the cult. And how so you know that whomever he blabbed to wasn’t in a position to cause harm?

Fortunately for them… i’m not their judge. History does not remember well those “heros” who laid down their arms, left their post, and let the enemy pass right through them.

Telling a would-be bank robber “hey there’s a vault over there” would be a closer analogy. Doesn’t do anything to help the robber figure out how to break into the vault.

And he didn’t tell a would-be bank robber, he told his decades-long friend, from the little detail released, in a discussion about his work that day, which presumably included escorting folks to the secure location.

It’s not like it wasn’t all over the news that they all went to a secure location. So him having a couple of brewskies with his “buddy” (use that term very loosely for a narc) and talking about his work that day doesn’t really seem all that out of the ordinary. If his friend wasn’t a rat, we’d not even know about it happening at all.

I’m on your side on this one. Unlike the Trumpsters, I believe in the principle that we are a nation of laws.

That would not be a crime if, as is the case with Officer McBlabbylips, he disclosed the combination to a person who had no intention of robbing the bank, and the disclosure was made a week after the actual bank robbery was over. So yeah, not the same thing at all.

Oh, FFS. Lemme guess. Never served. Because that’s the sort of “I would have single-handedly taken down the enemy” bravado that people who did not ever sign up like to imagine they’d do, not shit their pants and take off running.

And professional consequences for acting like a MAGA dipshit.
