Report: Pompeo And Mnuchin Had Discussions On Invoking 25th Amendment

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin reportedly held informal discussions with staffers on having President Donald Trump removed from office through the 25th Amendment after he instigated a violent insurrection by his supporters at the Capitol on Wednesday, according to CNBC.

Iā€™m sure this was ā€˜leakedā€™ so these two look like ā€˜rational actorsā€™. Pompeo is an opportunist who uses ANYTHING (Christianity, Trump, no-Trump) to puff himself up and Mnuchin? I donā€™t know. He seems so hapless but maybe itā€™s all a front.

Iā€™m guessing the discussion went something like this:

POMPEO: Iā€™m not going to vote for the 25th.
MNUCHIN: Neither am I. Btw, fuck democracy.
POMPEO: Agreed. I so want to put my face into a bag of cheeseburgers.
MNUCHIN: Go for it, ma dude! :hamburger:

Heard a snippet of Junior from some podium loudly proclaiming the Republican Party would now be known as the Donald Trump Party. Essentially said there were no longer ā€œRepublicansā€ as the Right was now just ā€œTrumpersā€.
That arrow was so far off it even missed the hay bale holding the target.

Everything that is wrong with the GOP right here. When the fuck does it need to happen then? They are all cowards.

Pompeo does the wrong thing when he needs to step up? Check.
Mnuchin doesnā€™t do enough when he needs to step up? Check.
Administration ā€œadultsā€ just hope it all goes away? Check.
It all checks out.

Too late, Mike, youā€™re proven shite.

Not likely true. Occamā€™s Razor tells us that this is a PR smokescreen for future claims of being not-at-all-Trumpy, independent actors free of the insanity. Pure Baloney.

A formal official who was familiar with the discussions told CNBC that ā€œthe general plan now is to let the clock run out.ā€

In other words, the same plan since the election.

Funny. Spat out my coffee there.

Yeah, right. Angering his base? They should be scared of all the other Americans who are now riled up.

Moral midgets to the end. But why change now?

This is incredible. Still, they are afraid of him and his cult. This is why Chao and DeVos jumped ship - not out of any sense of ā€œmorals,ā€ but because they want no part of going on record to remove him from office.

He needs to be neutralized asap. Iā€™m not exaggerating when I say I fear that, in order to disrupt the swearing in of Biden, heā€™s gonna lob a nuclear warhead or two at Iran - simultaneously satisfying Stephen Millerā€™s deepest fantasy.

And then chickened out.

Pence should be telling Trump to resign, Iā€™m sure all the GOPers are hoping for it since it saves them having to put the country over their selfish political ambition/power grab.

The 25th will never happen (too chicken) and Impeachment is a nightmare for the GOP Senators up for election in 2022.

I actually think heā€™s right. There are millions of Americans who support the attempted coup because they believe whole-heartedly the lies that Trump and his party have been feeding them. The GOP has to choose between losing that base by telling them the truth, or continuing down the path of Trumpism. Thereā€™s a limited chance that the party will split into the GOP and the Trumpers but I just donā€™t see most of the so-called ā€œmainstreamersā€ wanting to be sidelined into a permanent minority party.

The fact theyā€™re even having the conversation is enough to warrant removal from office. Invoking the 25th amendment isnā€™t something you discuss casually over brunch. This is unprecedented.

Am I missing something here?

So, doing oneā€™s job is constrained by concerns over angering ā€œthe base ā€œ. Might want to re-read your oaths? Maybe theyā€™ll resign to show their political courage. Buffoons all.

ā€œThere will be a reckoning for this president, but it doesnā€™t need to happen in the next 13 days,ā€ the person said.

Oh yes it fucking does. Out. Now!

I donā€™t see the party fracturing. This is an interview with a ā€œrationalā€ one and I was more and more sickened as I read on:

He must be removed. He is a clear and present danger.
And if he is not removed, he will always be able to claim that he was blameless.
Oh, and he can run again!
