Blockquote “There will be a reckoning for this president, but it doesn’t need to happen in the next 13 days,” the person said
.Ummmmm… yes it does… before he tries to pardon himself. He also needs this additional stain on his reputation to make it harder to run in 2024 and anything else he tries to do after he kicks rocks.

Actually, I agree with this. The Georgia Democrats will not be sworn in until Jan 22. We need them in the Senate to control the discussion and allow evidence during a Senate trial. Impeaching Trump quickly is unlikely to result in conviction. Impeaching him after he leaves office is not without consequences for him and for the nation—if there is a conviction. Post conviction, Trump will be barred from public office permanently thereafter. Also, during the impeachment, he cannot even try to pardon himself.
This is exactly why the GOP is complete shit, and has been the whole Trump presidency: They know how bad he is but go along out of careerism. it’s why the never-trumpers recanted days after they Access Hollywood tape, when they found out just how deplorable their voters were. (except Lindsey, for him it was the blackmail.)
Okay, I read the article, she says she is a true believer in conservate policies and things MAGA world will give her credit for that and she can be part of reforming them.
Pure delusion. Reminds me of my former congressman, Amash, who thought he was principled, and formed a “caucus” of people who he thought were allies, but mostly turned out to be some of the craziest Trump sycophants, like Jim Jordan.
Of course it’s just the social media/internet cesspool (and inflamed by the passions of the moment) but there’s a growing movement of Q-deluded online Trumpists who feel that they’ve been victimized further over the events of the week and are openly touting a new “Patriot Party”.
If Trump isn’t removed, he can switch to the new “Patriot Party” and fracture the GOP base in a way that sidelines them through at least the second Harris administration. My polar bear peeps would approve of that!
I met a traveller from an antique land,
Who said—“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal, these words appear:
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.”
““Just for some context, John, even though we think it is unlikely in 12 days that Trump would actually be removed from office, and we don’t know what Sen. Mitch McConnell would do, this would make history if it passes in the House, it would make Trump the first president in history to be impeached twice,” Gangel added.”
