There has never been a POTUS as corrupt, treasonous, despotic, criminal and existentially dangerous as Trump.
If he is not Impeached soon, there is no explanation I can think of which would justify that.
None–and the “Mitch will not convict” explanation ASSUMES corruption on an unprecedented scale. In fact, those who offer that as an excuse are telling me that they know what Barr has hidden…
I’m in the “Pelosi is going to start Impeachment at the first significant blow” camp. The truth has been thwarted so far by increasingly blatant and unprecedented norm-destroying and lawlessness on the part of Barr and the WH and all those connected to the criminal enterprise. No big blows yet but there’s still a lot of potential.
But at some point she’s got to start it even if it’s not the ideal time and I’m placing a lot of hope on Mueller’s testimony to provide this opportunity. If she doesn’t, I may move into the georgeh camp (maybe).

There was only ONE Democratic candidate in the Democratic primaries. The other was an Independent Socialist who caucused with the Democrats and did nothing to promote party infrastructure, fundraising, or other candidates.

Capone was a very fine man who was treated VERY UNFAIRLY by hugely Conflicted and Biased prosecutors from the corrupt and illegal IRS who hate American entrepreneurs.
My only regret—the only one—is that I can’t pardon him and end his nightmare, or give him My Medal of Freedom, which lots of people are saying I should do.
The Republicans on the committee can be counted on to kill time with all sorts of stupid, time-wasting questions that just roil the water to make sure the Trumpers are convinced there is no “there” there.
Not to mention the Electoral College which badly skewed the results.
It’s so frustrating arguing with Trumpies. Aside from being obvious racists for the most part, they’re so incredibly stupid, and of course ignorant, and most have the emotional maturity of a slow 11 year old. They’re also mostly selfish and mean, even the “nice” ones, once you get to know what they’re really like. They really are wired differently (as in defectively), and there’s no getting through to most of them.
They NEED to believe in their fantasies, because reality is just too complicated and threatening to them. They suffer from a form of collective dementia. Try throwing them some solid facts and arguments, and they’ll lash out at you personally and reveal their true nature–and stupidity. One almost feels sorry for them, except that most are racist assholes so it’s almost a perverse form of revenge knowing that when Trump is gone, they’ll still be stuck being stupid.
Thankfully not everyone who voted for him is a Trumpie, and enough who aren’t, I believe, will not vote for him the second time around.
He’s like a nerdy version of Niedermeyer. Had he served, he’d definitely have gotten fragged.
I’m still hoping that Dems are slow-rolling and timing this for maximal political damage to Trump and the GOP, certainly for the 2020 elections, but also, just maybe, in order to maximize the chances of impeachment. Summer’s not the time for that, with everyone on vacation or not paying attention. But if we don’t see clear signs that they’re serious about this, it’s not going to happen. Timing Mueller’s hearing for now is not a good sign. Perhaps they intend to have him back in September or October, but I’m not hopeful. I think that Pelosi just wants to keep that powder dry.
And again, I’m going to ask the question in the LBJ way. If a President has broken the law six ways from Sunday, and the House does not move to impeach, then what the Hell is the impeachment provision in the Constitution for??
Impeachment is not primarily about removal. It’s an extra tool to preserve checks and balances against a lawless POTUS. If it were primarily about removal there wouldn’t be a 2/3rds requirement for removal in the Senate. Of course, the Founders knew the threat of removal was needed for it to have teeth, so they stuck it in there. Nowhere do the founders or any precedent prior to the OLC memo contemplate that a POTUS can’t be criminally investigated or charged while in office. The reason the Constitution has a process for succession tells you that one of the purposes of the Republic was to avoid tying legitimacy to the head of state. The Republic was meant to survive no matter how bad the POTUS might be.
To not use impeachment in this situation is to abdicate power. That sets a very bad precedent both for the current and future situations.
Impeachment sets in motion a political and legal process to put maximum pressure on the POTUS and his political supporters and set the narrative for the voters. It may lead to defeat at the ballot box. It may lead to criminal referrals, investigations or indictments. It may lead to resignations. It may even lead to removal from office. But is intended to be used in a situation like the one we find ourselves in.
All is not lost …and i will NOT despair …

Well, should be a campaign issue for the Democrat to use. There is a natural backlash (especially in the south) to out-of-state money. (Full disclosure: I’ve donated across State lines and will likely do it again.)
Every individual may not have read the report… but the media has sifted every word - repeatedly.
But the DNC staff have gone over every bit with a fine tooth comb. That we do not know what is in it is obviously a total lie. Well crafted spin - but untrue nonetheless.
If there was enough evidence for 'high crimes and misdemeanors" in there, the House would have already impeached. God knows they have spent more than enough time on hearings, testimony, floor speeches and grandstanding on official congressional time that they would have done it by now if they could have. We know that. They know that. Anyone who wants to know, knows that. If they could, they would - LONG ago.
What they are really doing isn’t fooling anyone that doesn’t want to be fooled.
Truth is, this is all just campaigning. They would much rather use the Congress and their time in office for campaigning than their own time and campaign funds.
This is how they choose to use their time the week before they go on a 6 week recess - without a single one of the 12 required spending plans in place.
This is why there are shut-downs. Because Congress will not do their job - they are too busy using their time for campaign rhetoric.
The Senate is not blameless. We have two chambers - BOTH are responsible when their job is not done.
But hey, this is what we get when we reelect the same politicians from the same two parties over and over and over and over…
After 160+ years of the DNC and the RNC in power, taking turns at complete control, with individual politicians in office 10, 20, 30 and even 40 years, it is clear who is to blame for any and every problem - and it certainly is not “the new guy” every 4 years.
