Republican-controlled states are sealing the cracks in their anti-abortion regimes through legislation that removes the power of, or seeks to punish, Democratic prosecutors who decline to charge people for abortion-related crimes.
“Fascism is a cancer that spreads rapidly, and its return is threatening us: is it too much to ask that we oppose it from the start?” ― Primo Levi, The Complete Works of Primo Levi
You left out an adjectival phrase-- your right-wing billionaires are apparently pretty out-of-touch with what the people seem to want. That’s one way that revolutions are created: witness the Colonial Revolution of 1776, the French Revolution of 1789, the Russian Revolution of 1917, the Algerian Revolution of 1954, the Indochinese Revolution of 1946, etc. (Why are the French so good at pissing people off to foment revolutions?)
A second American Revolution is likely to more closely resemble the French or Russian revolutions than the Revolutionary War of 1776 because the oppressors are living here, rather than being across the Atlantic.
Fuckers better wake up and smell the coffee while they still can.
I occasionally watch woodworking videos on YouTube: I love to watch a skilled cabinetmaker building cabinets or furniture. One guy I used to like to watch, but will watch no longer was building a cherry floating nightstand.
He lost me once he’d completed the cabinet, and then said, “I’ll bet you’re wondering how I’m going to secure this to the wall to make a floating nightstand. I’m going to use something I call a ‘Freedom Cleat.’”
And I’m like, “WTF is a freedom cleat?” and so he got my undivided attention as he made a simple cherry French cleat and secured the carcase to his shop wall. (The client wouldn’t allow him to film in the bedroom where it would be permanently mounted.)
It’s a French cleat. It was a French cleat before and it’s a French cleat now. You didn’t invent it, you copied it. And once I remembered where I’d heard that nonsense before (anyone else recall “Freedom Fries” [which are really Belgian rather than French, but I digress]) I unsubscribed and I won’t give him any more views.
