Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) on Sunday took aim at House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) for throwing a Trumpy fit over the Jan. 6 committee’s requests to social media and telecommunications firms to preserve records that it deems are relevant to its probe into the deadly Capitol insurrection.
See that is where I differ with Kinzinger, I want McCarthy to go there, over and over again.
I’m having a lot of trouble understanding what is or isn’t bad politics anymore. I’m not even sure that biting the head off of a live chicken in public and drinking its blood is “bad politics” in some districts. That said, I’m having trouble seeing anything the Republicans have done lately that hasn’t made them less popular with the public overall. It appears as though each new act of desperation by one of them just alienates more people but attracts no one new.
That’s how it appears to me anyway. We’ll see if that strategy actually works for them in the midterms next year.
We may be in the end stage of the disease currently afflicting the Republican Party.
Nearly everything they do these days is ‘really bad politics’. They can’t start uphill again until they hit rock bottom.

Qevin knows there’s a trail. This is as rehearsed and ahead of the game as Trump’s pooping on our electoral system in June before he’d lost. If you can’t hide it, see if you can at least leave it tainted in the eyes of the faithful.
It’s enlightening to listen to the guilty squeal their terrified “outrage.” Remember when they kept telling President Bill Clinton, “if you’re not guillty, what do you have to fear?”

I think Qevin’s p.o.'d because the original plan (to hide the members activity behind deference to elected representatives) didn’t pan out, so’s now he’s gotta go to acting like the reactionary party is a law unto itself.
Not unexpected, but something that should be a terminal embarrassment in a democracy.

Really Bad Politics
In some ways this is new and in some ways particularly pompous publications like the NYT have always done these feature stories that are simply an idea someone got and ran with because I work for the NYT and by definition everything I do is good. Years ago someone did a trend story about how there were more stylish women riding bicycles in the city. You notice a stylish woman on a bicycle twice in one week, think it’s a story, make a few calls, get a few cooperative bicycle shops to give you quotes so they get the shop’s name in the paper, and boom, that’s a story.
Now, this is something a little special. Can one of this president’s signature strengths, one that in particular contrasts sharply with the stunning sociopathy of the former guy, can it in fact be—a weakness? Maybe? At times? In some senses? It must be! Because look, it’s in the paper!
They learned nothing, god damn it. They were never chagrined, never chastened, never self-questioning. They kept raining down small-arms fire on a perfectly plausible candidate, and helped elect an entirely and disastrously unfit one, and they fucking learned nothing.
And don’t tell me you told me so, because it isn’t a dark conspiracy to get the sweet sweet dollars. It’s just who they are. Not the best ones, and not the earnest ones. Just the clever careerists working the system to get stories out that make editors smile.
I presume their strategy will be to smear the opposition, speak in platitudes and claim affiliation to the symbols of church and republic.
I think that’s been the standard practice since they stopped having positive achievements to trumpet.
But not ‘Don’t telegraph your swings’.
That line wasn’t aimed at McCarthy. It’s aimed at everyone under McCarthy. Staffers. Campaign staffers. Donors. Other members of the House.
‘This doofus is who you’re banking on? Really? Everyone knows he won’t get elected Speaker. He’ll never have the power to enforce his threats. And he’s gonna drag you all down with him. Get out now.’
Everything you’ve said and additionally they must limit the right to vote to those, and only those, who support an authoritarian dictatorship over democracy. The fascistgop will continue to preemptively cast doubt on any and all elections that they lose. Their preference is to declare themselves the winner before a single vote is cast, let alone counted.

Translation “You scared Kevin? Well you should be, the best advice anyone can give you is to lawyer up and keep your mouth shut, too bad you’re not bright enough to know that, you have to be told, not that it would do any good.”
Kinzinger said that the House minority leader’s remarks are “really bad politics, to say the least.”
If Republicans didn’t have bad politics they would have no politics at all.

When Trump came on the scene…for me, what scared me the most was the potential for this lying fuck to sharpen-up The Post Truth Era.
Just get the verbiage OUT to the masses and condition them to accept it…
