He’s a dictator loving criminal and has no time for foolishness like rule of law. Apparently, Mark is proud of his scheme to subvert legal citizen voters, fair elections, and the legal system. Besides, no time for this. He has a dictator to please.
“I am pissed my book’s details on Trump spreading COVID to veterans and others got leaked. I’m also need to protect myself from my Leader™️, who’s having a fit over the documents I gave to the Jan 6 commission showing his involvement. I hope this covered my butt with the Leader™️,” Meadows added with a grimace.
“Former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows sued the Jan. 6 Committee, its members, and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Wednesday.”
Bit of a sphagetti toss suit. He’s asking for 8 declaratory judgements, 3 injunctions, and attorneys fees. Basically asking the judge to declare him protected by executive privilege and prohibit the enforcement of the subpoenaes of his person (testimony), his docs, and his phone records, and prohibit Verizon from supplying them. Question is, which judge does he draw and will the judge grant him any stays.
a. A declaratory judgment that the Meadows Subpoena and the Verizon Subpoena are
ultra vires, unlawful, and unenforceable;
b. A declaratory judgment that the Meadows Subpoena and the Verizon Subpoena
serve no valid legislative purpose and exceed the Select Committee’s Constitutional
authority;
c. A declaratory judgment that compliance with the Verizon Subpoena would violate
the Stored Communications Act;
d. A declaratory judgment that the Meadows Subpoena improperly compels testimony
of a senior executive official;
e. A declaratory judgment that the Verizon Subpoena violates Mr. Meadows First
Amendment rights;
f. A declaratory judgment that the Verizon Subpoena violates Mr. Meadows Fourth
Amendment rights;
g. In the alternative, an order modifying the Meadows Subpoena and the Verizon
Subpoena to seek only unprivileged information that does not infringe on Mr.
Meadows’s constitutional rights;
h. In the alternative, a declaration that Mr. Meadows may validly assert executive
privilege over communications and deliberations related to his service of the
President;
Case 1:21-cv-03217 Document 1 Filed 12/08/21 Page 41 of 43
i. An injunction quashing the Meadows Subpoena and the Verizon Subpoena and
prohibiting their enforcement by Defendants;
j. An injunction prohibiting Defendants from imposing sanctions for noncompliance
with the Meadows Subpoena and/or the Verizon Subpoena;
k. An injunction prohibiting Defendants from inspecting, using, maintaining, or
disclosing any information obtained as a result of the Meadows Subpoena and/or
the Verizon Subpoena;
l. An award in favor of Plaintiff for his reasonable expenses, including attorneys’ fees
and costs, incurred as a result of the Meadows Subpoena and Verizon Subpoena;
and
m. Any and all other relief that the Court deems just and proper.
This is a stall tactic. They’re weaponizing the legal system to delay, delay, delay, until the GOP takes over the House and shuts it down. This is why the DOJ should be running this show.
I predict this suit won’t work (shocking), and at most will buy him 7-10 days delay. But he can fundraise like hell off the suit and he needs that money for his criminal defense. Naming Pelosi as lead defendant (or as a defendant at all), instead of the head of the 1/6 committee, is a publicity fundraising tactic.
So maybe I’m missing something, but besides the other problems with these claims of executive privilege, executive privilege is intended to protect the deliberative processes of the President in carrying out his functions as the nation’s chief executive. But nothing about January 6 concerned Trump’s role as chief executive. It was a political rally by Trump as a candidate for President. How is any of that covered by executive privilege?
Meadows has really figured out he let the goods out. Home office called and told him fix it and they don’t care how or be found in a hole in a corn field somewhere.
“My testimony is protected by the sanctity of executive privilege, that is essential to the dignity of the presidency. Also, buy my new tell-all book for more embarrassing details at the heart of the Trump administration.”
