I’d say his promotion to DNI is the Peter Principle at work – except that he was already completely useless as a member of Congress.

Congress and the Intelligence Committee could actually improve if Ratcliffe is no longer there.
If the Republicans in the Senate confirm this POS … well, it will certainly fit the pattern and continue the downward trend of needing any ‘qualifications’ for a position other than fealty to and eagerness to help protect Trump.
And yet watch the pearl-clutching if some later democratic president nominates anyone who is not impeccably overqualified and right-wing-vetted to any position whatsoever.

Next thing, you’ll be looking for actual competence in Trump’s appointees.

The sad part is that those intelligence agencies are full of evangelicals, mormons and plain right-wing nuts, which will actually welcome it.

I don’t think Trump has even nominated Ratcliffe yet. A few days ago on the WH lawn Trump said “If he is confirmed.” That sounded like the kiss of death. I’ll go out on a limb and say that we will get a speech or a release from Ratcliffe this afternoon - "It was an honor to be considered for nomination as DNI, but I love my family/district/dog too much to undertake that responsibility at this time. Earlier today, I informed President Trump, the bestest, smartest, most-handsome president ever, that I wish my name to be withdrawn from consideration. "
Why waste money on spy agencies when Putin tells you everything you need to know.
Putin does not have to explain anything ,you just do what you are told and say “yes sir”.
It really dumbfounds me when I look at which committees Republicans place their members on, usually no experience is the go to qualification.
