Trumpland instinctively distrusts Bushies. Barr being the exception that proves that rule…and he only got in because of his willingness to shed and past loyalties and scruples, and to grovel endlessly for Donald.
Which of course is the only real prerequisite here…willingness to shed any and all dignity and grovel in a never ending declaration of fealty to Donald. Ratfcliffe meets both criteria.
Trump wants a stooge as DNI that will work with Barr, who he is giving enormous and unprecedented power over IC to, to dismantle all his paranoid machinations of what is happening against him.
Which is something we shouldn’t overlook. A low life like Barr will eagerly use his boss’s paranoia in such a position to garner even more power to himself. Which is what I believe is really happening here.

Good question. He skipped Nunes who is too toxic to even consider. It is a real Catch-22; anyone loyal enough to Trump is also disloyal enough to the country that 4 or 5 Republican senators might not confirm.

Chosen merely for his loyalty, his task will be to convey to the president details of the investigations into Russian interference. Trump could share that information with Putin and we’ll never know.

Is it just me? or did anyone else read that headline as:

WaPo and others found another Ratty lie, claiming he arrested 300 illegals in a single day. Turns out, it was about 45 people from a chicken processing factory, and some were US citizens. Those involved have no memory of Ratty’s participation.
There was also mention that the WH house has asked for a list of senior intelligence employees, signaling that Ratty may be on the skids already, or Friday as @dangnewt suggests.

45 workers were charged by prosecutors in Ratcliffe’s office, court documents show. Six of those cases were dismissed, two of them because the suspects turned out to be American citizens. One of those citizens, a 19-year-old woman, was awakened in her home and hauled away by immigration agents, the woman said in an interview.

However, he has shown a great deal of interest in Trump’s butt, which he has kissed at every opportunity. As with many of Trump’s appointees, this is the key attribute which qualifies them for their jobs.

I have a good feeling McConnell is going to tell Trump or Ratcliffe to withdraw because there aren’t enough votes in the Senate to confirm him like what happened with Herman Cain.
