Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, a Republican who’s had his name tarred by the President, his state’s governor and its two senators for refusing to parrot baseless election fraud accusations, penned an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal Sunday arguing that President Donald Trump is simply running the “Stacey Abrams playbook.”
Trump administration officials passed when Pfizer offered in late summer to sell the U.S. government additional doses of its Covid-19 vaccine, according to people familiar with the matter. Now Pfizer may not be able provide more of its vaccine to the United States until next June because of its commitments to other countries, they said.
They, Republicans, just can’t stop themselves from being dicks. Just when you think you’ve found a non looney tunes Republican, they turn around and squander any goodwill they accrued by sounding like the voice of reason.
Stacey Abrams has built a powerful operation, and has been incredibly successful. She’s a force to be reckoned with. So it’s not really a surprise they’re going to start going after her. It’s not going to work though, she’s smarter and better at this than they are.
It’s about time someone pointed this out; it should have appeared immediately after Raffensperger made those odious comments… The comparison is bullshit, and to compare Abrams to Trump is to compare someone who wants fair elections to someone who wants a stolen election.
Ironic that we need to look to Wall Street for ethical guidance. An analyst must disclose ownership in any company on which the analyst is publishing equity research. Most firms go beyond FINRA regulations and outright forbid their analysts to own any stock in their coverage sector. That Kemp could oversee an election in which he was a candidate is bonkers. As for Raffensberger, his bothersideism is inexcusable although not surprising.
“Establishing a playbook that President Trump is following to the letter now, Ms. Abrams refused to concede, announced that she would launch major litigation against Georgia’s election system, and began collecting hundreds of millions of dollars from donors convinced the election had been stolen from her,” Raffensperger wrote, outlining the thesis of his argument.
