Race-Resetting Super Tuesday Sets Up A Long Fight For The Democratic Nomination | Talking Points Memo

I have twenty bucks on Klob. Though there is the caveat of the semi-caucus in 2016 versus the primary in 2020, I don’t think it can be overstated just how wild was Biden’s +9 result in MN. Klobuchar is massively popular in the upper midwest and demonstrated that her voice as a surrogate really counts for something.

I’ve been tough on Amy, but she unquestionably delivered in MN for Joe.

The decision will be made by Jim Clyburn in consultation with Pelosi and Obama.

At least in the Bay Area, the money went to Bernie from zip codes not heavily populated by Latinxs. Some zips are extra extra white.

Yes I should have read deeper. Sorry I am little quick with the response.

I was talking votes, money talks for sure but I would expect it from those neighborhoods.

No problem. Maybe I could’ve phrased it better too.

I go old school.

Virginia’ s numbers were huge as were a number of other states. The one area that should surprise no one, but Bernie, his supporters, 17-29 year olds failed to show up at the polls.

Harris on Supreme Court?

I’m all in on that.

I disagree with your analysis. I think people are paying attention, they’re just not running down the street with their hair on fire.
You could compare it to the “Silent Majority”, where people are not happy, but aren’t able to march in the streets because they have lives.
The most revolutionary act any person can commit is to show up to vote. I don’t know if you saw the coverage out Texas and LA County but waiting in line to vote for over an hour is inexcusable. Those people persevered, and shouldn’t be dismissed.

Epistemic closure is a powerful thing–and is apolitical besides.

Not one Democrat will.

Based on the turnout, I would say that Anyone but Trump is winning in a landslide. If Trump was really as popular as he is going to claim he is later on today and at every rally-of-hate, wouldn’t the turnout have been seriously reduced?

Yes I heard that, I’ll await the demo breakdown as I have also heard that the younger voter stayed home. So???

If so, that is very good news indeed.

And when we began this race for the presidency, everybody said it couldn’t be done.

No, Bernie; we said it shouldn’t be done.

That is disapointing for me, I was holding out hope for VP.

That was not the intention, and no one should. We can’t afford to. My only point was to highlight the wave of turnout for Biden in two particular demographic groups that seems to have made an enormous difference in securing the advances he made yesterday, and how that aspect mirrors the famed Obama coalition of yore.

Wow.

OK, I think TPM has officially crossed some kind of invisible line here, and on the other side sits FOX.

Reading this site you’d think Sanders was Trump, and Biden is friggin’ Obama.

As for timing, I don’t think there’s much drama here. The Democratic machine will put things in line so Biden will win. You guys’ll have your frontrunner like you’ve been terrified you wouldn’t. And he’ll choose some black/hispanic/female nobody as his running mate. And they’ll both lose to Trump.

I’m not a Sanders supporter, but it’s pretty clear the Democratic population has been scared to the point where fear conquers imagination. Start preparing the excuses.
