Race-Resetting Super Tuesday Sets Up A Long Fight For The Democratic Nomination | Talking Points Memo

Same here but Susan Rice could be awesome, too, a lot of experience.

This gives me a chance to pitch a Biden/Castro ticket, for these reasons:

  1. Biden already has strong support among black voters; Castro (from San Antonio, which Sanders won last night along with most of the Rio Grande counties)) just might draw Hispanics (among whom Biden doesn’t seem to have much support) to the ticket . . . and maybe, just maybe, help Biden win Texas in the general.

  2. Castro endorsed Warren when he withdrew from the race, which suggests he’s in line politically/philosophically with the more progressive wing of the party.

  3. He was a cabinet member during the Obama administration, which means he has some nuts-and-bolts experience in working with the bureaucratic work of governance.

  4. While in the campaign, he was an eloquent advocate for women’s and LGBTQ issues–more so, dare I say, than Mayor Pete was.

So . . . maybe?

ETA: h/t @kelaine’s suggestion of Catherine Cortez Masto–she’d be another solid pick.

Warren will be especially needed in the Senate, if she vacates her seat her replacement will be a Republican appointee. If the Democrats manage to reclaim the Senate by a vote, that would be a disaster.

I’m a Warren supporter, but Biden’s support in VA and NC jumped out at me. Those are states that the Dem has to win and, if as it appears, it won’t be Warren in November, Biden is the one who has the best shot at those states. While VA is no longer that swingy as it did go for Clinton (5.3 margin) - NC is very much in play - the margins were GWB 12.5, Obama .32, Romney 2, Trump 3.6.

No you are correct these wins are not wins for any candidate, maybe the numbers will drive the remaining primaries to a clear leader. The establishment put its all on Biden the last couple of days and revived him, I dont know if it is sustainable.

Never mind that he’ll win the majority of votes.

But you disregard the vote of the electorate like one. It’s all “rigged”, dontcha know?

This is the main point, folks.

MSNBC spoke to one Houston voter expressing they had waited 5 hours to cast their ballot.
Much that you’ve just stated-- was packed into that voter’s intent.

Maybe not jumping onto the endorsement bandwagon prevents the Sanders fans from painting her as part of the establishment “coup”. She’d also be blamed if Bernie lost California. So, even though she’s not quite in the progressive lane–she was for MFA some of the time, her relative youth, gender and diverse background adds some excitement to the ticket and helps bring along the Sanders base.

Well, of course. That’s how it happens. I don’t use the term “rigged,” but if you don’t think there are heavy-duty Democratic power politics helping assure an outcome here, you’re wrong.

The left is right and the right is wrong, but there is complicity here.

You sound just a little unhinged, mate. The whole idea is that the person who get the most voters has the widest support. This is the voters speaking. Not sure why you are pitching a different approach. Yeah, let’s just strap on our homemade fairy wings and jump off the cliff. Nothing crazy or reckless about that, as long as we really truly believe.

Imho Joaquin is a better candidate than Julian (would prefer to see him ascend in the House tho).

So a lot of people who voted chose Biden. These were only primaries. The election in November will decide House and Senate seats. No crystal ball, but I can only hope that turnout is huge and McConnell, especially, is no longer Majority Leader. Also, two words:
Supreme Court.
Stay home if you’re bored. But another four years of Trump will make you regret that decision. This one’s for all the marbles.

I’d much rather see her go with Biden than Bernie if she is going to accept any invitation. And I don’t even like Biden, but I think he will end up the nominee. And I’ll vote for him.

According to what you’ve said here, Hillary Clinton is president. Cheers, “mate.”

No true Democrat is going to sit home in November. Our turnout last night set new records. The base is fired up. Women are fed up. People of color are fed up. And the LGBTQIA community knows who the enemy is.

This pressure-- has been building for 3 years and four months.
The candidate likely just being identified.

I’m thinking the momentum is just beginning.
More please, Joe. :muscle:

I realized tonight that I have the same response to possibility of Bernie winning that I do living in TrumpAmerica

What?!? That’s bananas.

I’m glad you slept better last night. But jeez, get a little perspective.

I’m somewhat reluctantly pulling for Biden, but I really wish that the young’uns would actually turn out and vote in sizeable numbers. Depressing to think that today’s events are not enough to get their attention. I’m close to 60 and have voted in every primary and election since I was 18, and it’s hard for me to fathom not caring enough.

Rage-tweets don’t count as votes, kids!

Better a “Long” one than a “Wrong” one.
