Progressives Are Very Excited About ‘Vibes Candidate’ Tim Walz

Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) had yet to have her first cup of coffee on Tuesday morning when her phone began “blowing up.” The news that President Kamala Harris had selected Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate broke just before 6:00 a.m. local time in Seattle, Jayapal’s home city. Despite the early wake up…

I’m stoked.

Seems that there’s potential for even more groundbreaking events in choosing Walz.

What a disappointment for the moderate voter!

More broadly, the moderate voter is disappointed and unhappy with their political choices. I anticipate apathy at the voting booth.

In addition, this important voting group will willingly choose apathy when they vote.

The centrist voters represent the largest group of voters in the United States.

Remember every one takes credit. Rep. Jayapal and Bernie plus AOC will all be out front of the parade once they have learned which way it’s going. Spare me!

Be more specific. If you are unfamiliar with US voting history, it’s a position that many others appreciate.

I don’t know what you are trying to do with these odd comments, but today’s a day to be excited and energized!

Even my registered republican mother is excited for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz!

If Kamala and Tim are pulling in republicans, they will most certainly pull in moderate democrats.

I was asking why YOU think it is a disappointment for moderates. I do not see Walz as any kind of radical.

I appreciate your response.

Again, the initial enthusiasm about the Harris/Walz ticket is sadly lacking for moderate voters.

I love Walz already, never having heard of him until a few weeks ago. I also love how this campaign is leaning into its progressive side. Far too often, Dems run away from it.

I disagree. If you think that, then you don’t understand moderate voters.

I think you’re way off on the apathy thing. This is the most stark division between choices I’ ve seen in over 50 years of voting. And the enthusiasm level on our side is growing quickly, in large part due to exciting young voters with a vision of a hopeful future.

Any apathy among ‘moderates’ will be among those of a conservative variety who were unlikely to vote Democratic at any rate.

He is progressive, but not radically left. The right will try to paint him as such, but that dog won’t hunt. I still would have preferred Shapiro as PA is the entire ballgame - but outside of PA Walz is as strong as any of the other choices.

Only in an US General Election year where abortion and Trump are on the ballot would you observe so many voters pay attention. It is not a reflection of the quality of the Democratic Party.

I’m not sad. Hard to say what the definition of “moderate” is. Depends on your scale. But if you think the Trump universe is moderate than I guess we will never agree.
