Sometimes, there is a reason why people are in the establishment. Maybe they have worked hard to get where they are and understand the true difficulties of making change. The establishment will move when the public moves.Right now, the public is not where Bernie and his supporters are. However if the public DEMANDS universal healthcare, then see how fast the establishment moves.

I agree, but I have a couple caveats. It’s enough to say there’s more to the issue, but I still love Rachel even though I disagree with her from time to time. I’ll love her better after the primaries, though.

I’m not aware of any serious primary challenges by progressives in closely-contested congressional districts. It’s happening in places where the incumbent is seriously out of whack with his blue district, e.g., Lipinski and Cuellar.

I find it interesting that Kennedy’s campaign doesn’t receive the same threats and treatment from the DCCC fir going after Markey (a very reliable liberal vote in the senate) that Newman’s campaign had to deal with. Couldn’t possibly be his name. Not in this party. Lol.

Since Kennedy is running for a Senate seat, the DCCC has nothing to do with it.
The DSCC is backing Markey as the incumbent. He’s an uninspiring technocrat, and Kennedy is polling well ahead of him, maintaining a comfortable 6-point lead for the last couple of months.

I exchanged a series of text messages with the Sanders campaign this week. I said I would support whoever is the Democratic nominee and asked the campaign worker if he would do the same. I was ghosted after that question. Completely unwilling to support a “fellow Democrat” in the general election. WTF?
THAT is why @txlawyer and others (me) have such little faith in Bernie’s supporters. I have no interest in replacing a trump cult with a Bernie cult. NONE.

This is a bright spot in an otherwise bleak day. (As though there weren’t enough going on already, we had a freakin’ earthquake with our coffee this morning in Utah. I know Californians probably think a 5.7 is no big deal, but it scared the shit out of us in the Behave State.)

I have plenty of faith in the great majority of Bernie’s supporters. Dead-enders, not so much. And for anyone paying the slightest bit of attention, the Sanders campaign is in a dead end.

He’s a sitting rep so the DCCC has plenty of leverage they’re not using.
Newman polled ahead of Lipinski and still got threats against campaign staff.
Just strange that they’ll threaten staff to protect Lipinski but won’t say boo to a Kennedy.
Nope. the DCCC only works on House races.
As I said, the DSCC is supporting Markey.

My advice: If a rare reasonable sander’s supporter comes & engages with you, try to be supportive and listen to them. If you attack them (b/c reasons) then why should they feel reasonable? To their eyes it just seems like you are the aggressor.
That’s what I’m trying to do. I see attacks upon me and upon others that think like me, and I’m giving this listening thing’ a whirl by pointing out that there are aggressive people and positive people in both camps. I’ve seen it.
Often when I’m chatting I’ll seek common ground, only to get “YES BUT YOU GUYS…!” responses that drown out my attempts of mutual understanding. If we keep that up past the primaries, we’re truly Borked. We really need to be creative and start listening to each other.

I fully understand Bernie’s platform and agree with much of his vision.But in my mind, the only issue on the ballot this year is trump. Not pay equity. Not college tuition. Not Medicare for all. I had this conversation with the campaign worker via text messages. It was only after I said I would support the nominee and asked if he would do the same that he quit responding. I saw this mentality in 2016 - my 30-something son. We know how that worked out. Support for Bernie is a bit too cult-like. I never trust a Kool-Aid drinker.

Winning in November are Priorities One through Infinity, period. Otherwise, nothing else matters.
while this is true, the longer you go into primary season, the more likely the state has just one primary — states moved up their presidential primaries because early states got lots of attention (and promises) from the nation’s political class – but at the same time, they didn’t want to force a situation in which candidates for local office in the general election were being picked 7 or eight months before November.

I don’t see eye to eye with your portrayal of Bernie, and I think you’re too rigid in your opinions concerning us, but I don’t think that’s important. The fact is, however, that we need each other. We need your group and we need our group to come together in November and to do that people have got to reach out. We have to listen to each other and pay attention to the other’s motivations and concerns. Be a force for positivity.
