the CANADIAN just smiles and grey-rocked him…i don’t know why,but i was surprised at just how uncouth Trumpf is…he is rude and, crude…later on, i read that his father had dementia for years which was folllwed by Alziemers,i don’t know if these disorders are genetic or not., could explain why his wife and latesr son,do not live with him.

Trump in his CBS interview yet again demonstrated that he doesn’t understand the difference between the current account balance and the trade balances for goods and services, which is somehow amazing as the US regularly releases internationally comparable balance-of-payments statements. He could get into the weeds, but basically in the MAGA worldview you’ve got some iteration of Stephen Miran, an economist who studied under Martin Feldstein, who says that, in fact, up is down, and Trump just needs to use the tariff stick as much as he can. Then you’ve got mainstream economists like Ken Rogoff, who note that Miran is just plain wrong, and then you’ve got liberal non-economists like Lori Wallach, a Harvard lawyer, who thinks tariffs are to fight the “monopolists”. And who doesn’t hate those fucking monopolists? Point is, the US is in some ways in a similar situation to the 1760s, a huge transition is coming, the executive and legislative governance of the system is hopelessly stuck in a mercantilist model (although it was the Brits wrong-stepping) and seething popular outrage. Trump may have increased the flow rate of the American outrage hose, but he certainly doesn’t control it. So far Trump has reserved most unfairness for sexual and racial minorities, and like in 1760, hatred of “poor transients”. The Trump Shock is now a 100% reality and the probability of a Trump Recession is now 60-90% depending on your analyst.

It’s fucking delusional to suggest we can engage these MAGA loons with reality and common sense. The hand-wringing over “woke policies” on the left that “lost” these people is fucking pathetic. There was a reason the US Army dragged the nice German people into the death camps. So they could see with their own eyes how their fascism ended, how all fascism ends. I don’t for a moment believe that the average MAGAt will ever get it, but maybe a few, dragged into the hard light of reality just might. Or they’ll get polio and blame Obama.
