I haven’t been able to figure out why Pompeous won’t enter the senate race in KS despite Mitch begging him to. Now I’m thinking that (a) the SS job is just too good a grift and (b) running would potentially expose exactly the stuff the IG was investigating.

I’m gonna throw in AK as a toss up. Safe red in any other year, but the incumbent is a carpetbagging Trumper and the challenger’s a lifelong Alaskan doctor. And if AK is in play, darn near everything is.

Chump basically hates everyone. Eventually. And he hates the graft that he isn’t getting a direct slice of and that he didn’t approve and orchestrate. But he hates anyone doing anything honorable/dutiful even more.

Pompeo, formerly first in his class at the Military Academy and well known evangelical, is one of the most ethically challenged people in America. He is about as truthful as any member of the Trump family. That is why he is so attractive to the Republicans in general and Trump in particular.

Ukraine. It was a mortal wound to his Senate aspirations. He had the backing of McConnell and the state GOP before that happened. Afterwards, the state GOP got cold feet on him, and its pretty unlikely that he would have had the WH support either…as the race would have made the impeachment and Pompeo’s involvement/cover up a front and center issue again.
The Democratic candidate is no lightweight there. And probably just as importantly, she used to be a republican, so the state GOP knows she is no lightweight.
