Pompeo Gives Taylor Vote Of Confidence Amid Trump’s Attacks

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Friday that he is in “full accord” with top Ukraine diplomat Bill Taylor on Ukraine policy, a notable vote of confidence as President Donald Trump repeatedly lobs insults at “Never Trumper” Taylor.

Is this the first Big Rat leaving the sinking ship? I sure hope he can swim…

rekindling speculation that he plans to jump ship of the administration in favor of a Senate run.

But first, a little more self-immolation to make sure his reputation remains unsullied. #ETTD

"But I will say this: we all, as human beings, can get it wrong, too.”

What the hell does he mean by this? Is this a passive-aggressive way to gently throw Taylor under the bus?

That is the closest Pompeo has ever come to giving an employee of the State Department a pat on the back. Leadership just isn’t Pompeo’s thing.

Maybe it’s a passive-aggressive way of throwing Spankee under the bus…

Or trying to lay the ground for his own mea culpa when they come with the handcuffs.

There must be another something super damning coming out today…

Dipping his toe in the river of reality, or just setting himself on the fence to see which way the wind blows him off?

Whatever he’s doing, the mob boss won’t be pleased with anything but full-throated public support of him and total, unqualified disparagement of the impeachment inquiry and all witnesses who have come forward. So, this may be a bit of a problem for Fat Mikey.

“every reason to think that [Taylor’s] still out there, banging away at that problem set. But I will say this: we all, as human beings, can get it wrong, too.”

That last clause sounds like an attempt to take it back.

That’s what I thought too. Vaguest reference ever. He could be talking about almost anyone. Trump, Taylor, himself, the janitor he just passed.

Not exactly a profound endorsement of the department he leads throws under the bus every other day.

The “we” in the quote is significant, I think. Pompeo might be eyeing the exit ramp.

As I’ve said elsewhere, the evidence on Pompeo is that he acquiesced, enabled and neglected, but hard evidence of co-conspiracy is not that clear. He is obstructing the probe by not providing evidence or witnesses. If he jumps ship it will be through providing full cooperation to Congress.

It has been a hell of a day, hasn’t it? I’m enjoying the schadenfreude rush while I brace for the inevitable crash when Trump does something horrendous that I didn’t see coming as his narcissistic wounds multiply.

“meetings and military aid hostage in exchange for a manufactured scandal centered on the Bidens”
well, that’s succinct. It wraps the whole Trump scandal from May - October 2019.

I guess Pompeo wants to salvage what’s left of his career in the real world. The world of Trump is a malevolent fake world where the only thing that counts is loyalty to the imbecile.

I fervently hope so, and the sooner the better.

This is a tepidly encouraging statement, but I still distrust Barr.

Mmmm, Mikey seems to be trying the ole’ Heinrich Himmler escape plan hoping people don’t recognize him has he crosses over enemy lines. Ain’t gonna end much better for you Mikey.

I think he threw that line out to Trump.
