According to The Sunflower, a student-run newspaper based in Kansas, Pompeo added that he has “every reason to think that [Taylor’s] still out there, banging away at that problem set. But I will say this: we all, as human beings, can get it wrong, too.”

As I’ve said elsewhere, the evidence on Pompeo is that he acquiesced, enabled and neglected, but hard evidence of co-conspiracy is not that clear. He is obstructing the probe by not providing evidence or witnesses. If he jumps ship it will be through providing full cooperation to Congress.

There may be other options for an exit. He could resign very soon from the administration to pursue a Senate or Governor seat in Kansas, claiming that all he was doing in blocking Congress was just following the directions of the President. If he rats out Trump to Congress, that dream of a future political career in Kansas goes up in flames.
