Pompeo Argues Some Human Rights Aren’t ‘Worth Defending’

Looks like some rights just aren’t right enough.

Freedom of speech and assembly; rights not to be discriminated against on the basis of race, ethnic background, gender, sexual preference or orientation, age, disability, religion; etc, etc, etc: all not as important as property rights or assuring that religious rights (of certain religions) prevail over other rights. I guess my law school training missed the boat.

Pompeo seems to have a cramped view about American democracy and human rights. When he referred to statues and monuments he was more than ok with Saddam’s statue getting wrapped with rope and toppled in Firdos Square in Baghdad.
Like most of the world he probably cheered when the Cold War ended and the statues of Lenin were torn down but he’s been silent on our current reckoning with the lost cause confederacy.

But what if your entire business plan is built on owning the fruits of others labor? Asking for a concearned incorporated person.

The right to wear a mask. Kemp does not want that.

Isn’t it great to do away with all of that liberal “political correctness” and see It the way it is.

Who told this ass that he gets to choose which rights we prioritize?

Prioritizing property rights while attacking “desecration” of monuments to Confederate soldiers who, in his words, “fought for unalienable rights” is tantamount to an outright, proud defense of slavery. Nothing more, nothing less.

Somehow, I bet Pompeo all of the rights apply if you’re white (and especially white male) and don’t otherwise. I mean, can anyone tell me when conservatives have defended the religious or property rights of black people?

The bigger issue I see is that this is the SoS telling the world that the US doesn’t think all rights matter, that some things can be ignored by a government. So, freedom of speech and assembly in Hong Kong? Not important. Freedom of religion or LGBT rights in various Muslim nations? Not important. I could go on, but basically he’s offering every bad acting nation out there an opportunity to say that “only these rights matter” in their nation. It’s a gift to dictators everywhere.

His rights included, amiright? Hand ';em over, Pompousass!

You have the right to support Trump. Anything you say or do will be used against you by a court of Trump. If you cannot afford a Trump attorney, you will be appointed one by Trump. Have you heard and agreed with these rights?

And who, pray tell, makes you the arbiter of what rights and “important” and which humans are more “human”?? How very Nazi of you, Pompous.

I tend to partially agree, defending the rights of morbidly obese pigs like Pompeo is certainly not necessary.
