But in 2020 it seems the electorate rejected stability for crisis.

Thanks. I figured that was a likely option. That path explains a lot of our worst problems, seems to me.

This guy’s an abomination. Not only did he minimize the crime committed by a participant in the plot to steal (future) votes and the presidency but he insulted me personally:

“We always look at people’s sentences and when you have people that are elderly, and we’re looking at this across a number of people — people that are in their 70s and 80s in our system — how much of a threat to society are they? And we balance that in a way that makes sure that they can spend their last few years at home,” he told CPR News.

Let me say this about that. I am in my mid-70s and am well aware that, far from being some kind of drooling, dottering old fool, an object of pity and contempt, I am highly capable, as is Tina Peters, of being ‘a threat to society’ if I were to choose to be one. I do hope, having for example published 2 books well into my 70s, that I am also capable of being a benefit to society.

If I were, on the other hand, to choose to subvert federal elections, and get caught, I am not sure precisely why I’d deserve to spend my ‘last few years at home’ rather than in the slammer. Just like any other election subversion felon.

Sorry but he doesn’t need any mortgages. He is a very rich man. Yes, I think he was wrong to do it but it isn’t the end of the world. And–how about getting a better name for yourself. Your choice was perfect for an 8 year old boy who thinks that shit is hilariously funny.

You beat me to it.

There was no such thing, and could never be such a thing, as “Trump pardoned Peters”. Phrasing like this plays into Trump’s posturing and lying.

I don’t know which part of Texas you live in . . .

More than a year after a Travis County jury convicted Daniel Perry of murdering a protester in Austin, Gov. Greg Abbott pardoned Perry, 37, on Thursday shortly after the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles recommended a full pardon.

Abbott pushed the parole board (all appointed by him) to recommend the pardon, and then Abbott pardoned the a-hole.

The mafia boss rides again. As despicable as Polis is, we can’t forget that this president is worse, the worst. Law and order mean nothing to him. Corruption is how he does business. Bullying is how he survives.

what do you expect from a guy named Jared? Sheesh! Isn’t he the one who got giddy on Twitter about Bobby brainworms’s nomination?

Spanberger’s tepid response to the corrupt state Court throwing out a perfectly legal and important redrawing of districts - that really ticked me off. Got as close as I’ve ever gotten to becoming an Independent. And Sherrill here in NJ says she’s open to redistributing, but that we do have a state constitution , blah, blah, blah. I’m no lefty, should say. My favorite presidents were Bill Clinton and Bush the first. I am a left-center happy moderate, at least used to be. Dems better get off their asses and fight with some gusto.

America used to execute folks for less treason than this.

They just don’t seem to take the threat seriously.

She is a 70 year old who got nine years. Pretty damn close to a life sentence. She served over two years. Nobody was shot. Nobody suffered an economic lose. The election she tried to undermine was over. I think a punishment should fit the crime. Vindictiveness is not good look for anybody.

For anyone in Colorado if you could give some boosting to https://impeachpolis.org/ on social media that would be really helpful. Finished building it out this morning and starting to work on getting more visibility. Thanks.

Keeping Peters behind bars is not a mater of vindictiveness, it’s a matter of keeping a repeat offender off the streets. She is still proud of what she did - and why shouldn’t she be? It’s given her a relevance that she wouldn’t have had by just being the simple-minded, incompetent County Clerk that we started with.

Now she is back on the right-wing circuit continuing to spew lies to folks who don’t know any better, in the service of people with a bigger and more dangerous agenda.

The local GOP is running a counterpart. It will be interesting to see how that one fares. Results due on Tuesday.

Update: The election-denier lost the GOP primary, 30 - 70%.

Why aren’t you out there spewing truth to those same people? I get it is just easier to shut her up by locking her away.

A bunch of protesters just got 100 years in jail for protesting. I think that was probably 99 years too long but that is on us because we failed to convince enough Americans to vote Democratic. Maybe we voted to strip funding education to save ourselves some money so a lot of young don’t understand our history. My point is democracy is hard and it is up to us to convince our neighbors that it is the right approach to government. .
