You said it. We are screwed because the Democrats do not know how to fight for the country. They seem to think there are rules that the Republicans do not care about from the presidency to the Supreme Court to Congress and down to the states. We better hope for a big blue wave or I suspect the country will not make it out of this time.

Trump isn’t “punishing” Colorado because TP is in prison, he’s punishing CO because the majority of the people here don’t want him to be their president. Simple as that. Trump would be screwing the state just the same regardless of TP.
Polis doesn’t get any consequences for this. He’s rich and isn’t running for office again.

I am not shocked her sentence was commuted. I don’t know why anybody should be. She was convicted of a felony process crime. She served more time than the crooks who destroyed the economy in 2008. Nobody was actually harmed by her insanity. I see no reason to provide her with three squares and a bed. Just so long as she can’t serve in an elected position in the future I am down with commuting her sentence.
Tonight I watched Bill Maher. He repeated his usual crap, blaming all sides for our current situation with a screed that claimed both liberals and conservatives are antisemites whose world views are reaching unity. One of his guests, however, said something profound. We are becoming more isolated day by day. We don’t talk to each other in person as much as we used to. Instead we look at video screens on our phones and scream at each other with out thumbs. No wonder our politics are all fucked up. We just don’t like each other. Worse we don’t listen to each other.

I don’t know how you can say her crimes never harmed anybody. They harmed the democratic process and the right of voters to vote without challenge from the overlords and to have their votes properly counted. Peters was part of the conspiracy to challenge and discard the votes of millions of people so that Trump could be made president despite losing the vote. Now because of Trump bully power, she will never have to admit what she did were crimes and they were serious.

In the UK, you have seen the collapse of the two traditional parties, Labour and Conservative, with emerging challengers. Unfortunately, the demise of the GOP into a cult of personality has been matched by the blurring of the Democrats messaging. How hard is it to insist on competence in governing? That internally has been the theme, look at Obama’s energy secretary, Steven Chu, the guy had a Nobel Prize! John Kerry’s negotiation of the JCPOA. Early green transition work.
Nostalgia for stability (or at least times perceived as stable) follows crisis. This was how Putin consolidated power after the horrible 1990s experience in Russia. It was Trump’s 2016 messaging when he entered and overthrew the country-club Republican leadership. Right now the 30-year treasury bond, which should be a risk-free asset, is signaling chaos ahead. However, if we are in fact entering an era of technological advancement and abundance, while simultaneously losing thousands of species and natural services that sustain and feed us, what policies make sense? Billionaires with private Hawaiian islands is certainly not the answer for the other 9 billion of us. What is sure is that competence in governance will be essential, as will the belief that we can figure things out together. A modern version of King Henry’s pheasant (fowl) in every pot every Sunday.

Just everybody on America. The way she has been treated says that if you tamper with our right to vote you can expect to be let off the hook.
And voting has consequences – look at what happens to life expectancy under Republican policies.
Life in prison with no possibility for parole would be a far more just outcome for this type of betrayal
