People Stonewalling Voting Rights Post MLK Day Tributes And Somehow Aren’t Taken Seriously | Talking Points Memo

A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things.

“Today we remember the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. #MLKDay,” tweeted Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ), who, along with Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), is refusing to vote for any changes to the filibuster in order to pass voting rights legislation

Maybe once the vote is cast and VR is killed at her and Manchin’s hands, we can finally move on from Tweedledum and Tweedledummer and stop giving these two nincompoops oxygen.

At least until the next time they run. Then splash it all over the 'nets until their defeats and never mention them again.

Dear Sen. Sinema,

  • The specs are ridic
  • Lose the garish lipstick and cover your shoulders, you are not attending a cocktail party
  • STFU

That is all.

Maybe her goal is to be remembered for something.

She’s a camera hound and not really there for the actual job.
edit to add
If she were she’d wanna kill the filibuster or do a carve out and get voting rights passed.

Trump’s complaints about Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), who has “a dull personality” and “no personal charisma,”

Even tfg’s insults are getting dull and stale, I’m sure DeSatan is devastated. Of course for obvious reasons he can’t call him out for being the corrupt lowlife he is. So dull, and lacking charisma it is.

Black Americans are not a monolithic voting segment of the electorate. They have diverse needs and concerns, like everyone else. But I wonder what MLK would think of the millions of black voters that cast ballots for Republicans? The GOP is demonstrably racist, misogynist, homophobic, xenophobic and bent on helping those at the top of the wealth mountain put even more distance between themselves and those stuck at the lowers rungs of the ladder. To say nothing of their efforts at stopping blacks from even having the rights or ability to vote at all. A black person voting for a Republican is like a sex trafficking survivor voting for Matt Gaetz in a run at the Senate. Why do they do it?

Fox News. That and it’s part of this irrational bubble universe trump dragged us into.

Why do they watch Fox News?

It’s everywhere. Many doctor’s offices, airports… bus stations… bars. It’s all over. I try to avoid Fox

Agreed. My cable company carries Fox News. Trump hasn’t dragged me into the bubble of people watching it.

Or a chicken voting for Col. Sanders…

We’ve spent way too much time on voting rights. We need to move onto the next agenda item that Manchin and Sinema are going to block.

I disagree:

Fox News’s Audience Almost Exclusively White as Network Faces Backlash Over Immigration Coverage (newsweek.com)

“Composition of the Fox News audience, 2018-to-date, total day: 94% White, 3% Hispanic, 2% Asian, 1% Black ,” said CNN’s Brian Stelter.

The actual quote as best as I can remember from Animal House is:

“Fat drunk and stupid is no way to go through life young man.”

I wouldn’t say DeSantis is fat and I have no information regarding his sobriety, but everything else checks out.

I am corrected.
Thanks
But still 1% of the Fox audience is a lotta people. I don’t see why anyone including any person of color would vote for a Goober.
