Pennsylvania Republicans Float A Plan For A Gerrymandering Power Grab

Agree. Who pays him to do all this work?

Mountainous region people tend to be less friendly or more wary, I assume because the terrain used to make contact with outsiders difficult and infrequent, plus there’s this sense that you need to protect the high ground from would-be usurpers or something. Whereas the midwest and south, being generally flatter, breeds friendlier (if often crazier) people. Just a theory.

Pennsylvania would be a solid blue state if only Philadelphia city turnout could be persuaded to rise above 20%. The Democrats there tilt the whole state. I believe turnout there was only around 17% in the November 2021 election, which cost statewide Democratic judge candidates in a fairly close race.

Did I mention…

My best understanding, not having seen his invoices:

State and local parties mostly, probably also the national party to some extent, on the redistricting cases, all of it money well spent. Election cases would typically be funded by the relevant campaigns.

Ok. Good. It really looks from the outside like he’s just a superhero playing goalie for Election Justice on his own. I’m glad it’s more of a coordinated effort.

Speaking of power grabs…

"Washington (CNN) – The US has information that indicates Russia has prepositioned a group of operatives to conduct a false-flag operation in eastern Ukraine, a US official told CNN on Friday, in an attempt to create a pretext for an invasion.

The official said the US has evidence that the operatives are trained in urban warfare and in using explosives to carry out acts of sabotage against Russia’s own proxy forces."
… … … … …
Putin is apparently willing to wound or kill his allies to create a reason to invade Ukraine. I would think his allies would be pissed off about that.

Heck with Allies, half of them are russian “volunteers”. So he’s off to kill his own folks.

How very Hitler 1939 Poland of him.

I laughed out loud at this imagining King of Prussia being considered part of the wildness!

It’s true, though, that it’s generally easier for those of us in Chester/Montgomery counties to just forget everything past the county lines into the wildness exists.

And don’t expect it would go great for putin if he’s actually intending to go for it this time.

Are you a real lawyer?

I’ve certainly found that to be true, from Appalachia to rural France. Rural people in general are often weirded out to see strangers, since as you say it’s not common. I’ve found it helps a lot to casually explain who you are and what you’re doing there. Actually suburban people aren’t that much better.
