“Pence pressed on WH projection” is a lousy headline. “Pressed on Trump’s belittling of the virus, Pence lies” is closer to bullseye.
I know this is an old debate. About 4 years old, to be exact. But I suspect we may ultimately see headlines with the word “lie” in them. “After Millionth Death, Pence lies that Trump never said 100k would be a success.”

The time has come for Pence and the GOP to push Trump to resign, allow him to go with a Federal immunity deal brokered by Barr. Pence has lost a lot of credibility in polling and he’s clearly struggling to defend Trump despite being a well practiced liar and ass kisser.

Frankly, I am too.The infection to mortality rate isn’t that high right now, especially when compared to Italy and Spain. If my math is correct, we’d need more than 2 million cases of infection to reach 100,000 that number of fatalities.
Check that - infections would need to number 5 million.

Jan 31: Russia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom confirmed their first cases.
Jan 31: Italy closed all flights to and from China.
Jan 31: Effective Feb 2. Trump travel ban for China, non-US citizens/residents only. US residents travel freely from China and EU without monitoring.

Spain and Italy have death rates in the range of 200 per million. If the US just matched that level, it would be 66-70,000 dead. Pence is talking about a pretty dire situation, so it is remarkable that these people are allowed to persist in their shambolic actions. We still don’t have a testing czar.

True enough. And there are reams and reams of Trump incompetence sufficient to fill the TV airwaves for 168 hours per week for 52 straight weeks.
We have always needed ramped-up messengers, but something tells me that our position is good enough (w/r/t facts) that it will not be as much an uphill battle as many think.

Politicians inherently cannot be honest. If they were they’d have an extremely short career. People react poorly in the voting booth to talk they do not want to hear in most cases (in normal times I mean). There are exceptions. FDR’s “fireside chats” for example where he would tell us what he could barring needs of secrecy in wartime.
These are clearly not normal times. We do not need to hear bullshit about ratings or how we will “open the country”. Pence, buddy, we are not your slaves. You do not own us, we are not a commodity. You are supposed to work for us.
