Former Vice President Mike Pence said he’ll “tell the truth” and “obey the law” when he testifies in special counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into former President Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, about an hour northeast of Louisville, cited the lack of criminal charges for Cosgrove as a reason for giving him a new job, along with his two decades of police experience. “We think he will help reduce the flow of drugs in our area and reduce property crimes,” Chief Deputy Rob Miller told the Courier Journal . “We felt like he was a good candidate to help us in our county
Meanwhile, another officer who shot his weapon during the raid is defending Cosgrove’s right to work in policing again. John Mattingly, who retired from the Louisville police department last year, went on Twitter this weekend to criticize the protesters. “These intolerant crazies want to deprive American citizens, who’ve been cleared, an opportunity at supporting their families,” he wrote. “I’m sick of these social justice warriors, who have no clue what the facts are, spreading lies and misinformation.”
Pence is probably among the last witnesses the DOJ has subpoenaed in the J6 case. Usually the highest profile and hard to get people like Pence are last in line. This means the DOJ won’t be asking any questions they don’t already have the answer to. This will just be for the record, and to bolster the case against Trump and the other conspirators.
So Pence would be a fool to lie. That’s a crime, and he has no protection against the consequences. He could plead fifth, but he’s a witness and not a target, so he’ll most likely just spill on whatever they ask him.
“I’m grateful that the court recognized that there are specific constitutional protections unique to the vice president when you’re serving in your role as president of the Senate,” Pence said in the interview, adding “they’ve limited what they’ll be requesting of me.”
It really pisses me off that RW politicians manipulate the “Constitution’” to enable themselves to break their oaths to uphold and protect the US Constitution.
