On Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) waded into the contentious primary race between incumbent Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) and challenger Rep. Joe Kennedy III (D-MA), throwing Kennedy her endorsement.
Progressives, including Ocasio-Cortez, noted a DCCC policyto blacklist vendors who work with candidates challenging sitting lawmakers, one she has long been vehemently opposed to
Because it’s Pelosi. Period. You don’t have to call Miss Cleo to undefstand that the word “Pelosi” has ceased to even be a name for some people. It functions merely as a trigger-word like they’ve been hypnotized to throw a tantrum whenever it is uttered, and AOC is part of that.
There’s no double fucking standard here either. The rule has nothing to do with who you are allowed to endorse…and nobody stopped AOC from endorsing people who were challenging incumbents or puonished her for it in any way. I tend to support Markey, because he’s been solid and mostly liberal/progressive, but this is a a giant fucking nothingburger and the result of people looking to invent excuse to throw tantrums whenever Pelosi does anything whatsoever.
ETA: And just wait till the tantrums when AOC isn’t named the next Speaker. Nina Turner and David Sirota are going to have to be put on Thorazine for weeks…
Particularly since she’s just flat out wrong about there being any hypocrisy or double-standard. She’s smart enough to know there isn’t, which tells me she’s just yet again trying to draw attention to herself and rile her personality cult.
Markey is a class act, and his only sin is being around long enough to hang stuff on him from a previous era. I can think of about 20 other Democratic senators I would rather see challenged.
She is 100% an adherent of the “us v. the dems” insurgency belief and is unfortunately narcissistic enough to believe that she’s the next coming and will lead a massive takeover of the party. It’s going ot hurt her and the rest of us in the future. Mark my words.
Markey’s problem is that he’s seen as old news and he has zero charisma in an era where charisma is like money in the bank.
He was a decent Representative, and he’s been a decent Senator.
Kennedy positively radiates charisma and smarts.
And he’s way cute with all that curly red hair.
