Pelosi’s Kennedy Endorsement; Why People Are Mad About It

is that she’s an egotistical newbie who hasn’t learned enough to know when to hush.

Tough choice. I haven’t liked this race from the beginning.

Different Kennedy. There’s nothing wrong with this Kennedy, except craven ambition. He’s maybe a tad to the left of Markey on some issues, but offers no good argument for replacing Markey and losing the power of his seniority positions in the process. He got into this race when it looked like Warren could well be the presidential nominee. He was banking on that, and using this candidacy as an audition to replace her.

I’m not a long-time member of the Democratic party, having only joined recently. I don’t have much of an opinion with regard to Markey vs. Kennedy. There was a tangential point brought up concerning RFK, Jr. being an anti-vaxxer. While this tangential point is off-topic, it is a sore point with me because anti-vaxxers are lunatic Luddites, and I won’t suffer the damn fools to express their opinions around me. This comes from my having a scientific background and their arguments are purely unsupported bullshit.

I have a few relatives who are anti-vaxxers. We’re not on speaking terms. I don’t want potential carriers cavorting around society. While I do hope that none of the males among them do not contract the mumps, I suppose they might learn the hard way what that means to males beyond puberty; painful balls the size of grapefruits potentially followed by sterility. I don’t wish that on anyone. The same holds true with polio and a host of other easily prevented illnesses.

It shouldn’t even be happening, but Kennedy is young, has a little charisma and despite his largely moderate record is trying to bill himself as a young new progressive voice and ride that wave to replace…the old progressive voice(???) It just makes no sense unless you chalk it all up to Kennedy being overly ambitious and an entitled little shit. Markey has been great and a staunch liberal ally.

I will be fine with how things play out-- after November 3rd.
Right now-- as with the great majority of Sanders’ supporters-- she needs to be rowing in the same direction-- not in circles.

It’s a fecking party primary. Nancy and Chuck disagree. I’d describe it as healthy, actually.

Geez, I can’t imagine why AOC was only given the 60-second Loser’s Lament time-slot at the DNC. LOL.

Seriously, though, I like her a lot, and support a lot of her agenda, but Jesus, can she ever chill out? Eyes on the prize, AOC. Stop the unnecessary nonsense and purity scolding. It’s so counter-productive.

This. But it involved Pelosi and she saw it as a chance to engage in a little falsehood to stoke her personality cult’s grievance over the DCCC rule by using the P-word on Twitter.

Truthfully, I didn’t like the Presley - Capuano race either. He was salt of the earth. But neither of these guys are young and the young are…young.

I also think Massachussetts politics is a rough game.

It’s simple. As the saying goes, Republicans FEAR their base, and Democrats HATE their base.

For all of the accusations of Pelosi being a San Francisco liberal, she really is machine politician Tommy D’Alesandro’s kid, and so hates reformers and hates activists, and loves big money donors.

Pelosi is being completely consistent here.

If your attitude is that you want to destroy the party to take it over, you aren’t the base. BY DEFINITION.

I think, considering RFK Jr’s Dystonia, and the way the assassinations must have affected his formative years, he’s got more than enough reason to be not quite right in the head.

I, for one, am way past tired of Kennedys of all stripes.

Tell me about it. I still have to fill out my ballot. I wish I had more reasons to choose one over the other.

When this campaign started, I was looking forward to a good and healthy debate on issues and tactics, and each candidate making an effort to convince us why they are the best. That has not been how things have unfolded, however. I really hate to rely on “gut feelings” when it comes to voting. But they’re not giving us anything much more substantial to go on.

And why is that exactly?

Well hey, guess what, we get to evacuate. We’re not in the official zone yet, but local P.D. has called our HOA to ask that anyone who is able to get out early would please do so, to spread out the load on the egress roads. And since that includes us, we’ll be off for an unscheduled visit to my sister-in-law in the next couple of hours.

As an immigrant, I really don’t get this country’s obsession with royalty and dynasties. Shouldn’t we be better than south asian countries that keep electing someones daugher / son / wife to leadership positions? Not to mention that Markey is a competent progressive with working class roots. I happen to live in his town, which, though now gentrifying at an alarming rate, is definitely working class. We don’t need yet another princeling from the ruling class in the senate, especially as he is, if anything, to the right of Markey. I like Pelosi but this endorsement will be hard for me to forget.

Hmmm, I thought he was an anti-vaxxer. …Nope, that Robert Jr., not Joe III.

If one can’t tell the Kennedy w/o a scorecard, maybe we don’t need more dynasties.
