I’m fine with this.

I’m fine with it too, and I’m also glad Pelosi said it.

“He will probably act in a way that is beneath the dignity of the presidency. He does that every day,”

It’s really nice to hear the gods honest truth every once in awhile, and that’s it. The straight dope. The long and short of it. Speaker Pelosi, you’re my hero.

TOTALLY AGREE

Trump is behind and needs every chance to try to appear to dominate Joe.

Joe gains nothing by debating. For the first time in many years, there are literally no undecided voters. Everyone has already picked their man. Debates mean nothing with regards to polls. Plus as Josh is pointing out MSM will parrot Trump’s words and not publicly debunk them… Total fail…so don’t feed the monster.

Not debating Trump will turn POTUS into a whiny little b+tch, which is exactly the tone Joe needs to continue to have from Trump. Keep Trump off his game and make his go cry to FoxNews.

Joe, don’t do it. I know it’s tempting to take on a bully and dunk on him…but think of the long game. Eye on the prize.

Stupid statement.

Yep, don’t give Trump the air time. He believes he’ll pull a rabbit out of the hat. Deny him this hope, and stand back, because if you thought Trump was vitriolic before, you ain’t seen nothing yet.

Another very good reason for Biden to avoid debating are the stupid, irrelevant, self-aggrandizing, foolish, biased (by both sidesism) questioners and “moderators” who really don’t have a clue. The act of even trying to respond to their ridiculous, loaded questions is very likely to make Biden look foolish. Biden can readily say his record speaks for itself, and let it go at that.

Agree with Nancy. However, the media will not. It will become “but the emails” all over again. Regrettably, the moderators will be as weak and complicit as they were last time. (Who the hell allowed Fat Donnie to stalk, Hillary?). Anyway, Joe’s not on board with this.

Agreeed as well.

As @wtfinsc said, there really aren’t any undecided voters at this point. The debates will only serve to have Rump pull more stupid sh*t and Biden roll his eyes. There’s no “there” there with Rump and enjoining him in a debate only gives Rump more credibility than he deserves.

The RNC didn’t have a platform this election. None. They didn’t think it was necessary. What exactly would Rump “debate” anyway??

Totally agree.

Trump is a pathological liar. That’s not “debatable,” (See what I did there?)

How can you debate with someone that will say absolutely anything, lie, insult, change his position . No reason to give that bastard legitimacy .

Anyone remember the famous Barney Frank quote, along the lines of “debating you is about as useful as debating a kitchen table”?

I love you Nancy but on this you are wrong. A statement like this makes me believe she’s more worried about what Joe may say and less worried about tRump.

I wish they’d do it as a zoom debate. That would trim Trump’s sails.

@PicMover There is that too. I’m afraid there does seem to be a thread of that runs through the party at the top.

Not sure how this will play out. While I agree in theory, I also think Trump will use this as an excuse to not debate and blame it on Senile Grandpa Joe. Meanwhile, Trump has shown with Jonathan Swan among others, that he does not do well in a setting not scripted for him in advance.

Biden should state the Democratic party’s platform and principles, then ask Trump to do the same for the GOP.

ETA I think Biden has to do at least one, because Trump’s surrogates and Fox will natter incessantly if he doesn’t, continuing the lies that Biden is too out of it, too old, etc.
