House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) condemned the “dangerous escalation of tensions” with Iran after President Donald Trump directed a drone strike that killed Qasem Soleimani, a top commander.
If Trump is going to engage in a precipitous act like this without John Bolton around then who knows what else he has in store or if there are any adults around to control his impulses.
The Military-Industrial Complex is cheering. Stockholders in defense contractors are ecstatic. The US War-Machine is gearing up for another glorious attack on Oceania. When impeached, start a war.
So Esper called Pelosi after the fact, but why is Pompeo giving the press announcement about a drone strike? It seems like Esper should be the one to publicly explain what’s going on. It would have been his department that coordinated the strike. State would have had nothing to do with it. State should be the one trying to “smooth the wrinkles,” not say “this was necessary and justified.”
And if Graham knew for “days,” how imminent was the threat?
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo went on CNN Friday morning after tweeting that the drone strike was in response to “imminent threats to American lives.”
Yes, and now Pompeo, how many American lives are in danger? This only inflames a tense situation and now the guy’s a martyr and killing him is not going to calm this situation.
Bonespurs is letting Pelosi know that as long as she holds on to the articles of impeachment he’s going to keep her in the dark about anything he does. He would have anyway, but even more so now.
This probably won’t get Pelosi to rush the process. Hope she hangs on to the articles for as long as she can. tRump is not going to win any of his stupid games now.
We’ve now been reduced to conducting foreign policy via “Tweet” while ignoring the legal requirement to consult (or, at least, inform) congress.
I’m on with the observation that “Everything Trump touches, dies”, unfortunately for us, things turn “stupid” before dying. This man needs to go away as fast as possible. We can’t handle four more years of this fool being anywhere near the levers of power.
Graham is spiking the ball here. There’s no reason for him to share what I would have thought was a privileged conversation -though it occurred in a nonsecure setting, publicly. If things go badly, people in South Carolina will remember his grandstanding.
