House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has appointed the commander of the D.C. National Guard to be the new House Sergeant at Arms, putting him on track to be the first African American to hold the role.
I wonder if a Representative from San Fran is sending a message to a New York Con Man and his Minority CaucusInsurection Enablers? Or maybe the Georgia RepublicansWhite Citizens Council.
Not sure I’m good with this one. Don’t see anywhere anything that indicates that he would step down from his role as the head of the D.C. National Guard.
The House Sergeant-at-Arms is answerable only to the Legislative branch, do we really want someone in there who also answers to the Executive branch?
Also, now will he be sending his own requests for reinforcements to himself to sign off on…
I’m always of two minds about these regional boycotts. I get that people feel a need to register their protest meaningfully. At the same time, the more commerce and prosperity, the bluer a region becomes. Delta in Atlanta has been a gift
“His historic appointment as the first Black American to serve as Sergeant-at-Arms is an important step forward for this institution and our nation,” Pelosi said in a statement. The California Democrat also noted that Walker had a long career as a special agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration.
That should scare the crap out of certain GQP Representatives. A metal detector and Daisy the drug beagle, at the door of the House?
What blocks it? I can’t find anything that indicates whether his position at the D.C. National Guard is a full-time active duty one or not. If not, not tracking anything that prevents him taking a civilian position like any other part-time NG member.
FWIW, Politico has the following. Not sure if “was” is truly past tense or not. Would be nice if all these reports could clarify that important point.
Walker was the 23rd commanding general of the D.C. National Guard and previously spent three decades as a guardsman and DEA agent.
